It's a Champion Data stat so might not be one clubs have recorded in the past, but would be handy to know for sure.

Stack is a combo of Cyril and Byron.  He is Viney’s kryptonite.  Big wrap.

 

An MFC supporter who can’t genuinely praise the technique and effect of that bump is a one eyed subjective simpleton.

I can see you have trouble joining, pretty basic dots. So, because i like helping the strugglers i will break down my point into bite size chunks, that will be easily "mentally digestable" for you.

  1. Viney is made of tuff stuff
  2. He was not in a position to see Stack coming as he was focused on getting the ball- watch the vision
  3. Stacks bump was not tuff, as Viney had no chance to take evasive action or prepare himself. Its pretty easy, and some would say cowardly, to line up a player who cant see you coming.
  4. in comparison i posted vison of Viney bumping a west coast player front on- that is the WC player had plenty of time to see it coming
  5. A recognised true test of tuffness is being prepared to back into a pack without knowing whats coming - players who shirk this often never live it down - Viney has done this on numerous occasions - i have not seen Stack do the same (he may have?)
  6. I said it was borderline reportable - obviousely Stack was not reported. had he conected a few inches higher it would have been reported- therefore borderline (only just acceptable)

On another matter-  I think bumps belong in the game but they will be eliminated if players keep getting concussion. Concussion is mostly caused by bumping, and much more likely if a player does not see the bump coming. So if you think the Stack bump on Viney was "absolutely brilliant" i have a news flash for you- those types of bumps will be eliminated from the game in the next few years. And yes i am  one eyed MFC supporter. I will leave it to others to judge if I am a simpleton?

If you're saying it was cowardly because Jack didn't see it coming, then there's the given that Australian Rules is a 360 deg sport where you have to expect the unexpected. In fact the vision shows him with the ball turning and getting a good look at Stack before the bump. May well say more about Viney's inability to react quick enough. It was perfectly fair.

The Brereton hit was well off the ball and not comparable. 

Not that I want to defend a Richmond supporter, but the bit about concussion is irrelevant to this.

 

Take your Viney hate off, how the hell do you react to something that you don't see coming, no player on earth would have avoid being bumped in that situation

    Perfect bump, handled tough as by Viney too.

    Strange to see a club's supporters attack this bump when a few years ago we were crying about Viney being reported for a bump that broke a bloke's jaw.

    The concussion debate my friend, has not unearthed the culpable...yet.  Let me educate you.

    1. Footy is a contact sport and players have, are and will be concussed.

    2. The real "crime' has been perpetrated by the medicos and the clubs; BOTH having a self interest that the woozy player sort of go back on.  The club's self-interest (and I mean every club), was the scoreboard.  The medico's self-interest was keeping his/her employer happy (first and foremost) and secondly, to ensure those lost-playing-time-to-injury stats remain 'better than the medico/physio you replaced'.  Not every medico behaved this way, but I reckon a majority did easily; and as Paul J Keating once said, "In the race of liife, always back self-interest".

    If we are serious about concussion, take away the decision from the player (Jack Rievoldt/Viney), the club, and the medico.

    How the hell Jordan Lewis was allowed back on to the field after the hit against the bulldogs is a disgrace today, as it was then.  Any medico since Hyppocrates knew it was dead wrong to send a concussed player back on the park.  The "we didn't know then" is absolute bulltish, in the concussion debate, as it is the climate change one.

     

    How Melbourne and Viney let Viney back on the park after Stack smashed his AC was again nuts, when the game was dead.

     

    Don't lecture me about long-term concussion.  Like most areas, I know stuff you don't even know you don't know.  Keep listening to Robbo in your cave.
