Garry Lyon Kicks Ten Goals - Semi Final, 1994

Ah yes, B Lovett....some of his handballs covered more distance than my kicks. A  very good footballer.

And Brett Lovett right next to him in both teams...  another great player for us

Yeah agree, Brett was a gun, very reliable and steady, read the play so well. Great player.

Wow I remember like yesterday....I was in Year 12 at school Gaz and Ox were my two favourite players!

Lyon is streets ahead of Barry Hall in my opinion. I don’t remember Hall ever firing in a final?

I think people forget how good Barry Hall was - most neutrals would rate him much higher than Gary Lyon. A thug of the highest order, but he did kick over 300 goals more than Lyon. Hall's finals record was actually pretty good overall too.

Not to downplay how good Lyon was - probably the most natural footballer I've seen in my time supporting the Dees (too young to have seen Flower play unfortunately!)

Better player and an even Better Bloke!!

  • GAMEDAY: Brisbane

It's Game Day and the Demons return to the MCG after a dismal performance in Gather Round to face the reigning dual Premiers Brisbane. What do expect to see from the Dees today?

  • PREVIEW: Brisbane

They really had me fooled when I picked them with great confidence to beat the Bombers at Gather Round last week. I should have recognised that nothing is more quintessentially Melbourne than defeating the undefeated early premiership favourite one week and losing to a winless cellar dweller on its way to establishing a record losing streak the next.

Melbourne’s much vaunted finishing power evaporated at Adelaide Oval on Saturday afternoon, exposed for the third time in four years by its Essendon Gather Round hoodoo.
