Right now OMac is at least pencilled in for R1 considering WC tall forward line and Petty training with the forwards.  Quite a few posters here and a particular questioner at the Info night need to come to terms with this reality.

Yeah, nah.

Want to have a tiny wager?

I've been down to a few preseason training sessions last year and i'm very confident that both Hunt and O.Mac will be in the team in round 1. Hunt hasn't missed a beat in terms of training and he even came back earlier than required which clearly shows to me anyway that he is doing everything possible for a contract extension. On O.Mac, he's got his mojo back and has bulked up in the upper body and will combine well with the likes of May and Lever. Ideally i'd have Smith take his role but we all know how injury prone Smith is which gives O.Mac the edge over anyone else fighting for his spot.

On a different note, has anyone else struggled to find the 3 list spots we'll need to go into this years draft? so far I have Jones, J.Wagner and Baker. Our list is looking very strong.

Reading the little tidbits on Bennell and him doing shots on goal barely missing makes me feel if we can harness just a portion of his potential timed right it could mean the difference between us winning the premiership. You need X-factors to win premierships can he definitely has it, I think if we can get 50 games out of him then we'll be doing very well but those 50 games could be pure magic.

Thanks to everyone for the training reports, being on the other side of the world it's easy to feel disconnected but this at least makes me feel like I'm in the know with the club's activities.

Hunt is still our best bet as a forward pocket IMO. He kicked 21 goals in 18 games last year, which is respectable. Bedford, Pickett Lockhart, Spargo or Corey Wagner would need to step up to take his spot.

Forward pocket or goal square,  i don't mind,  depending on Match-ups.

If hunt was in G/Sq,  then I'd have Weide in the pocket,  with a clever small/short in the other pocket.

Maybe IF Petacca starts in the on-ball pack, then he might rotate through the bench.?   This could allow another to play HFF.?  A Hannan or Dunkley, Spargo,  or AVB.?

it adds flexibility to our forward lineup.

We can't afford to lose real pace.   And physical maturity,  replaced by a first Yr kid.

Baker is safe, unless he thucks up badly.   2021 imo,  will be make or not.?   I think he's safe until end of 2021.

You haven't considered any trades Out,  instead of just dee-listings.?

  • REPORT: Carlton

I am now certain that the decline in fortunes of the Melbourne Football Club from a premiership power with the potential for more success to come in the future, started when the team ran out for their Round 9 match up against Carlton last year. After knocking over the Cats in a fierce contest the week before, the Demons looked uninterested at the start of play and gave the Blues a six goal start. They recovered to almost snatch victory but lost narrowly with a score of 11.10.76 to 12.5.77. Yesterday, they revisited the scene and provided their fans with a similar display of ineptitude early in the proceedings. Their attitude at the start was poor, given that the game was so winnable. Unsurprisingly, the resulting score was almost identical to that of last year and for the fourth time in succession, the club has lost a game against Carlton despite having more scoring opportunities.

  • CASEY: Carlton

The Casey Demons smashed the Carlton Reserves off the park at Casey Fields on Sunday to retain a hold on an end of season wild card place. It was a comprehensive 108 point victory in which the home side was dominant and several of its players stood out but, in spite of the positivity of such a display, we need to place an asterisk over the outcome which saw a net 100 point advantage to the combined scores in the two contests between Demons and Blues over the weekend.

  • POSTGAME: Carlton

A near full strength Demons were outplayed all night against a Blues outfit that was under the pump and missing at least 9 or 10 of the best players. Time for some hard decisions to be made across the board.
