Top 10 in the B & F ... make your prediction.

We've now got a list that should be able to at least push for finals.

So if we go close (or make it) or even exceed expectations (on what the consensus is forecasting) then we're bound to have at least 8 - 12 standout performers.  That stands to reason.

The difficulty lies with how the new arrivals will fare.  Which ones are going to impact (?) because they've all got credentials that might lead to a top 10 finish in the 'Bluey' ... 3 draftees (Jackson,  Pickett,  Rivers),  2 traded for or free agent players (Langdon,  Tomlinson) and probably '2' signed up delisted free agents (Brown & Bennell)

And then we have the established brigade along with those who might blossom or those who are coming back from injuries.

Big chances

Gawn,  Oliver,  Harmes,  Viney,  Brayshaw,  T-Mac,  Salem,  May,  Petracca,  Lever,  Hibberd,  Melksham,  Fritsch,  Jones,  Hore,  and Jetta & Smith (if healthy)

Others in the picture

AVB,  ANB,  KK,  Spargo,  Bedford,  Hannan,  Preuss,  Jordan,  Weideman,  Nietschke,  Oscar,  Hunt,  Sparrow,  Baker,  Petty,  Chandler,  Josh Wagner,  Corey Wagner,  Lockhart,  Bradtke,  Dunkley

All things considered it's quite a good list (on paper) but the emphasis should always be on the 'team' and whether we can play as a team - a top-notch team in fact.

Kudos for those who get close to the mark but it's a tricky task especially if you are looking outside the square.

For what it's worth,  here's my top 10 (in order)  I've taken a conservative line (obviously) and because of that approach I'll probably miss on 3 or 4 (or more) At least 2 or 3 others will bob up but which ones?

  • 1 - Gawn
  • 2 - Petracca
  • 3 - Oliver
  • 4 - Brayshaw
  • 5 - Lever
  • 6 - Salem
  • 7 - Harmes
  • 8 - Viney
  • 9 - May
  • 10 - T-Mac

Footnote:  Apologies if I've missed anyone from the playing group

Is Jordan your smokey ? You could have picked  Omac  or Joel Smith in your 10 best or are you just joking.

I'll give it a crack (and probably fail miserably!):

1: Oliver
2: Petracca
3: Gawn
4: Lever
5: Brayshaw
6: Viney
7: Tom McDonald
8: Langdon
9: May
10: Melksham

(I'll just add that if this does end up being our top ten, with all those guys performing to full abilities I reckon we'll be right in the mix)

I’ve just heard that Petty, Chandler and Jordan are doing everything right off the field. No stone unturned.

Jordan’s kicking skills and endurance could see him slot into our midfield nicely.

With the depth we have next year i’m guessing if he forces his way into the side it’s because he is damaging by foot.

1. May

2. Gawn

3. Petracca

4. Langdon

5. Fritsch

6. Oliver

7. Lever

8. TMac

9. Harmes

10. Viney

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Essendon

It’s Pink Lady night at Princes Park — a vibey Friday evening setting for a high-stakes clash between second-placed Melbourne and eleventh-placed Essendon. The wind-sheltered IKON Park, a favourite ground of the Demon players, promises flair, fire and a touch of pink. Melbourne has never lost a home-and-away game here, though the ghosts of two straight-sets finals exits in 2023 still linger.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: # 1 Steven May

The premiership defender has shown signs of wear and tear due to age, and his 2025 season was inconsistent, ending poorly with a suspension and a noticeable decline in performance. The Demons are eager to integrate younger players onto their list and have indicated that they may not be able to guarantee him senior games next season, in what would be the final year of his contract.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: # 2 Jacob van Rooyen

The young key tall failed to make progress during the season, with a decline in his goal kicking output. His secondary role as a backup ruckman, which may have hindered his ability to further develop his game, and he was also impacted by the team's poor forward connection. It will be interesting to observe his performance under a new coaching regime.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: #3 Christian Salem

Salem proved to be a valuable contributor as a reliable and solid one-on-one medium-sized defender in what was undoubtedly his most impressive season since the premiership year. He remains a highly capable rebounding option for the Demons as he approaches his 200th game at the club.
