Invitation from Matthew Lloyd

I have received an Invitation from Matthew Lloyd to sign up membership of Essendon FC!! Any one else get one?

Addressed to me by name as a "keen Bomber supporter", I find that insulting as I hate them particularly after 2000 GF!!

How the hell did my name get on a Bomber mailing list???

I know I have nearly ran Lloydy over a couple of times - he was a bit slow and kept walking in front of my car while in rehab!

My friends who support the EFC would not even give them my name a a joke as I am 2nd generation lifelong Demons supporter.

##### rude !!! I have to get me name off that list ASAP. Dont want to be linked to one of the cellar dwellers.

I am also letting MFC know.

Maybe Bombers having snagged Mel Michael are going poaching other clubs members???

Let's hope they did a massive mail-out that costs them a fair bit for no return.

I thought I was the only one!

It was a very formal letter, and it was addressed to me. I don't know how they got hold of my name.

Needless to say I spat on it, tore it up and threw it in the bin. Ugh, I felt dirty for just having read it.

people can buy mailing lists of names, addys, phone numbers ect off certain companys, you may have filled in a free raffle or somthing, thats how they make their money

Yes -I got one too! Very annoyed with it.

Is it 3 mobile phone the connection between all of us?

I'm not satisfied you did enough!

It's not like it's a total fire ban or anything.

Nope. I'm with Optus, and I haven't received any letters asking me to donate to the 'rebuilding fund of Princess Park', or to join the CFC.

I'm really interested to know how they got hold of our names

The Essendon Mouth-Breather can get his memberships and shove them up his clacker

Biffinator

If there is a reply paid envelope in there, put all the crap in there & send it back. That way they have to pay for the return mail as well.

I got a letter and an E-mail. Until now I thought it was one of my mates who is a Bumber supporter (or Ash32).

Nope its not that! I have telstra mobile and optus home phone so is not 3!

If I knew which house was Matty Lloyd's I could have stuffed them in his mail box last night!! Wouldnt be seen with their mail in daylight!!!

I like the idea of sending mail back to bummers without stamp !! ;)

We are everywhere. We're bigger than the UN.

You guys are lucky you just got a letter about membership, if we really don't like you, you could wake up with a horses head in your bed.

Everywhere just like the asian flu epidemic.....Softer thas the UN...

...and a horses head in the bed would be preferable over Chris Heffernan on any given day thanks.

Yes I got one to. I'm not even with 3. I was shocked and thought how did they get my details. I actually rang the number to there client services department and said I have no idea how you got my name but I don't even barrack for Essendon. They then took me off the database. They are the club I hate the most and I hate Lloyd so much. I couldn't believe it. They wasted so much money sending out letters to the wrong people.

Gold!

I just got an email as well! :o

yeh i got that letter and an email....i replied to the email asking how they got my personal details and also let it slip that i was a dees member and they couldnt pay me to be a bummer!

they called me a 'passionate bommer fan'.....that made me want to throw up!

i wonder if they know that they are sending this crap to supporters of other clubs?

maybe it has something to do with where you live...im in essendon...maybe thats why?? but then why didnt anyone else in my family get one?

Should we let our membership department know there is an email/letter war out there? Maybe the press might be interested as well. What do we think? I am still annoyed 3 days later.

Is everyone giving their details to bomber blitz? in order to participate in the forum. then they would be mailing stuff to u?

I'm sure the MFC staff have NOTHING better to do than hear about how Essendon sent you some promo material ;)

Unless Essendon somehow got MFC member details and decided to send out letters to them - which would stupid and not just in a business sense - I doubt they'd care.

What's the common thread with you guys? Someone suggested the forum but I find it odd you'd give your address when signing up on a forum, although it could be just me =p

From Sydney

I have never received anything personally from the swans to join up to their club

But in the Daily Telegraph the only AFL news they report on is Sydney Swans, and purchase a 3 ticket pass to Telstra Stadium to watch the swans

But thankfully, I can get AFL news via big footy, hearld sun and news about the demons from this website

they got the our information from ticketmaster.....

I take it you know this as fact?

Did any of you guys tick the box (assuming you book on-line) that you agree to receive promotional material? That is code for telling them (Ticketmaster) to sell your personal details to any trustworthy organisation that has something to sell you that you don't want. You'll have to tell them to de-list you (something seekers and most other posters here wish essendon had done to Heff before we traded for him).

they also sent me a email so i replied to that and asked how essendonfc got my details..

last year when melb played essendon at TD i remember that we werent able to buy tickets at the gate or something so i was forced to use ticketmaster...im assuming thats when they got my details....however i dont recall clicking any boxes as i hate getting those 'promotional emails'

  • PREVIEW: West Coast

Saturday’s election night game in Perth between the West Coast Eagles and Melbourne represents 18th vs 15th which makes it a tough decision as to which party to favour. The Eagles have yet to break the ice under their new coach in Andrew McQualter who is the second understudy in a row to confront Demon Coach Simon Goodwin who was also winless until a fortnight ago. On that basis, many punters might be considering to go with the donkey vote but I’ve been assigned with the task of helping readers to come to a considered opinion on this matter of vital importance across the nation. It was almost a year ago that I wrote a preview here of the Demons’ away game against the Eagles (under the name William from Waalitj because it was Indigenous Round).  I issued a warning that it was a danger game, based on my local knowledge that the home team were no longer easybeats and that they possessed a wunderkind generational player in Harley Reid who was capable of producing stellar performances playing among men a decade and more older than he.  At the time, the Eagles already had two wins off the back of a couple of the young man’s masterclasses and they had recently given the Bombers a scare straight after their Anzac Day blockbuster draw against the then reigning premiers.

  • NON-MFC: Round 08

Round 08 of the 2025 AFL Season kicks off on Thursday with a must-win game for the Bombers to stay in touch with the top eight, while the struggling Roos seek a morale-boosting upset. Friday sees the Saints desperate for a win as well if they are to stay in finals contention and their opponents the Dockers will be eager to crack in to the Top 8 with a win on the road. Saturday kicks off with a pivotal clash for both sides asthe Bulldogs look to solidify their top-eight spot, while Port seeks to shake their pretender tag. Then the Crows will be looking to steady their topsy turvy season against a resurgent Blues looking to make it 4 wins on the trot. On Election Night a Blockbuster will see the ladder-leading Pies take on the Cats, who are keen to bounce back after a narrow loss. On Sunday the Sydney Derby promises fireworks as the Giants aim to cement their top-eight status, while the Swans fight to keep their season alive. The Hawks, celebrating their centenary, will be looking to easily account for the Tigers who are desperate to halt their slide. The Round concludes on Sunday Night with a top end of the table QClash with significant ladder implications; both Queensland teams are in scintillating form. Who are you tipping this week and what are the best results for the Demons?

  • REPORT: Richmond

The fans who turned up to the MCG for Melbourne’s Anzac Day Eve clash against Richmond would have been disappointed if they turned up to see a great spectacle. As much as this was a night for the 71,635 in attendance to commemorate heroes of the nation’s past wars, it was also a time for the Melbourne Football Club to consolidate upon its first win after a horrific start to the 2025 season. On this basis, despite the fact that it was an uninspiring and dour struggle for most of its 100 minutes, the night will be one for the fans to remember. They certainly got value out of the pre match activity honouring those who fought for their country. The MCG and the lights of the city as backdrop was made for nights such as these and, in my view, we received a more inspirational ceremony of Anzac culture than others both here and elsewhere around the country.

  • CASEY: Richmond

The match up of teams competing in our great Aussie game at its second highest level is a rarity for a work day Thursday morning but the blustery conditions that met the players at a windswept Casey Fields was something far more commonplace. They turned the opening stanza between the Casey Demons and a somewhat depleted Richmond VFL into a mess of fumbling unforced errors, spilt marks and wasted opportunities for both sides but they did set up a significant win for the home team which is exactly what transpired on this Anzac Day round opener. Casey opened up strong against the breeze with the first goal to Aidan Johnson, the Tigers quickly responded and the game degenerated into a defensive slog and the teams were level when the first siren sounded.
