Collingwood- from the inside out

Great footy documentary on the ABC tonight.  Really close coverage of the Pies 2018 year and Buckley’s change from a dictator type coach who controlled the players TO an engaging human approach with a leadership core.

It was great insight to how a footy club truly should work.  No sense of entitlement.  Hard work. Together.  Mateship.  Through adversity.  Better together.

I now hate them just a little less. They are still the filthy stinking pies. That’s footy.

Excellent watch.

Removed any anti black and white bias I had while watching.

A football club sanctum demonstrating the shallow insight us mere “supporters” really have..

Has turned into a respectful  football club and have that comradery which is what we lack. Buckley is a master coach a players coach more now and they play for him.

I love to hate them and hated them since l can remember, it is in my DNA. However  you look at it they are doing something right and it is working.

They went from a superbly average team in 2016 and 2017 to a true team that plays for each othet in 2018 and 2019. Utterly ravaged by injury both seasons but those that have come in have stepped up and played a role. Difference at Melbourne is that once fringe players like JKH and Stretch get a gig they are playing for their careers rather than the team.

You could sense towards the end of 2017 that something special was afoot at the Pies. And it wasn't just their bullying of us in round 23. But it was part of it.

If any game is a metaphor for where both club's stand today, it is round 23 2017.

They had nothing but pride to play for. We had a finals berth being handed to us on a silver platter. They beat us fair and square.

12 months later and they are a flag contender and 24 months later they are still in the thick of it.

Excellent Documentary. Beautifully edited

Good to see what goes on behind enemy lines.

Amazing to think we live 400 metres away, but in some ways, light years separate us

Will Goodwin watch this show more than once? I certainly hope so. He has so much to learn, and he has to do it quickly, otherwise this career is over

the idea of McGuire being President of the club makes me shudder. I used to work closely with his brother, who was so opposite to Edward.

After what Eddie said about Adam Goodes twice, he should have been run out of town, the fact he still holds all his power base is very wrong to me.

But a really well made doco (and they lost)  just like John Powers Book about the 1977 season which i have had since school days

Remember they are The Filth

Like Mars & Earth, at extreme orbit, nowadays.

The bit about the arrogant level belief during Bucks's playing days, and how they learnt to 'travel' - still strong at that club.

Now back to bagging and boxing my velvet seat cushion & wool-lined leather gloves for the year....

.....thank Christ for Steve Smith.
