Demon3 2,541 Posted August 19, 2019 Posted August 19, 2019 I Have said it and said it and said it again, but this club is sick, its got something in its DNA that they cant shake. A virus of mediocrity and unprofessionalism. But you cant blame a CEO for whats happening on the ground, the drop off in some many players is alarming and wont improve. Hibbo is the prime example, he is finished as player, he tries his guts out but his weapon was his kicking, its gone. Harmes doing dont argues every time he gets the ball isn't helping, Brayshaw's footy fundemantals are cooked, Oliver is just a smart ar$e, Jones has given up, Viney is a shadow of his former self, Lever is not the player we hoped we would get, we played 7 players that are simply C garde players (ANB, Stretch, JKH, C Wags, Spargo, Dunkley, Channdler).. and i know form history that 5 of them are not going to make it so why see them again? i could go on and on.lets hope they can find a cure for this Illness we have or otherwise at some stage the club will wither and die. beelzebub 23,392 Posted August 19, 2019 Posted August 19, 2019 (edited) From Titus O'Reily.... puts it into words far more elegantly and poignantly than I. I hope he doesn't mind... He's a Comedian at Heart but by god you can feel he's fed up like the rest of us ( the rest of this can be read at https://www.titusoreily.com/afl/the-monday-knee-jerk-reaction-afl-round-twenty-two ) Melbourne (42) v Sydney (95) It was an intriguing round of football. Not this game, this was a game that simply highlighted two very different club cultures and made me wish I’d never been born. With both sides having nothing to play for except pride, the Swans took it as an opportunity to devote themselves to their craft and improve their skills and abilities by working hard all night. After all, good habits start straight away. The Dees players instead took the opportunity to fashion a white flag so big it could be seen from space and then waving it furiously for all to see. Considering Sydney have lost six in a row and were on Melbourne’s home ground, this belting was embarrassing to watch, and I thought I was beyond feeling embarrassed about Melbourne. Swans fans are hurting after this season, but they can at least see some effort from the young players. Melbourne keeps talking about how they are still a few years away. That’s more like decades based on this performance. The constant refrain that now is not the time is just an excuse. The Demons are the person at work who is always about to do something; then you realised they’ve been in their role forever and never achieved a single thing. The players need to start worrying about now, not some mythical land in the future were everything just miraculously turns around, because based on this performance, that won’t be 2020. Maybe true bb but you can forget next weekend the result will be worse than last Friday. They need a circuit breaker to start 2020. It won't be a new coach that will have to wait till 2021. So what is it? I have no idea so the prospects for next year appear bleak. 1 Quote

I hope not. 1 Quote

I mean I get that it’s awkward and uncomfortable to stare down the barrel of the camera week after week to try and provide hope to the fans after the latest inept performance for which you are largely responsible. I’m sure Goodwin regrets ever agreeing to do it. But surely the very LEAST you can do under these circumstances is to see it through to the end. Two weeks to go and they’ve decided a few edits from the post match presser will do. This club is just laughably pissweak. I have to admit when I saw these addresses to the fans by Goodwin post match land in my email inbox I never watched one of them, even from the start of the season. The whole idea of it made me cringe inside. What was he going to say when we lost, I wondered. It would be embarrassing for him, and for us. As it turned out, these little speeches would have been a hell of thing for him to do as each loss compounded his misery, and ours. Stupid idea from the start. Should never have been done. 2 Quote
