Leoncelli_36 2,264 Posted July 12, 2019 Posted July 12, 2019 Stumbled across the article from an Irish ☘️ news source that talks about the son of Brian Stynes from 2016. It talks about him gaining selection in the Vic Metro side as an under 16 in 2016. By my calculations, that would make him a draft chance for this year. Has anyone heard anything about where he is at? Could we potentially rookie the kid given the family connection? Has some size about him and runs like his old man. 5 1 Quote
Moonshadow 17,678 Posted July 12, 2019 Posted July 12, 2019 I think @Whispering_Jack has mentioned the development of Jim's son, Tiernan. He's still a few years away from TAC cup level, I think he's 12 or 13, but I believe shows some promise. I've seen him at Melbourne games with his family and he's certainly a tall lad. Brian and his family are mad Melbourne supporters, they attend games regularly. His son is not eligible for F/S, but it will be interesting to see the club's view should he be good enough and available at our pick. Would certainly create a lot of supporter emotion. 2 Quote

Played for Xavier College with the odd game for the Sandringham Dragons. 1 2 Quote

Young Tiernan Stynes played for South Metro JFL side Port Melbourne/South Melbourne last year in the Under 13s and was also in their interleague team. I checked on the league website and it appears he’s not playing for them this year. The fact that he’s at Wesley might have something to do with this because the schools in the APS play their inter school matches on Saturday mornings which often puts pressure on young kids backing up for games with club teams on Sundays. I believe that Jeff White’s son is showing some promise as a sportsman and is perhaps a year or two younger. Wouldn’t it be great if we had a young Stynes and a young White combining for the Demons in around five or six year’s time after Maxy retires? 1 Quote
Whispering_Jack 31,365 Posted March 14, 2020 Posted March 14, 2020 It looks like young Tiernan Stynes has been excelling at an other sport - basketball where he has made the Vic Metro Boys Under 16 team:- IMG_3492.MP4 2 1 Quote

I say the time will be right if one, any or all can prove to be high quality junior footballers, not because their dad played for us. If they are average juniors, then I have zero interest in them. Diamond_Jim 12,772 Posted March 15, 2020 Posted March 15, 2020 FWIW I find this interest in these young people unhealthy. Let them grow and if they happen to come our way.... embrace them. Moreover... best of luck in whatever they pursue 2 Quote
