2018 Player Reviews: # 19 Mitch Hannan

THE GOAL MAN

The highlight of Hannan’s year was his goal on the run that heralded the win over Geelong in the Elimination Final. It was one of 22 for the season (the same number he kicked last year on debut) that included an important three goal haul against the Eagles. Was hampered by some knee issues and an early bout of indifferent form which saw him at Casey in a few occasions during the year.

Suffered this year perhaps from being compared to Fritsch.

Seemed to find his mojo towards the pointy end of the season.

Needs to cement his spot in 2019 or he may be passed by others.

The jury is out for me on Hannan. He is great when he is on, and he can rotate into the midfield but he is just so inconsistent. Maybe another preseason and experience will smooth out the lumps. I'd love to see him put it all together at the same time consistently.

An enigma but when he's on he's terrific. Great goal against Geelong and great game against the Eagles. An injured stopped us from seeing the best of Hannan.

I think Mitch is criminally underrated.

However, I'm concerned his knee injury is one he'll constantly need to manage.

Big, big season for Mitch in 2019. Can he forge a solid AFL career or just become one of the many cameos?
