Melksham Injures Hamstring

Featured Replies

I agree that Melksham is very important, but incredibly for someone who is normally a great kick he is a terrible set shot for goal.

The ball barely gets off the ground when he has a set shot.

Its the Tiger Woods stinger, he does kick like that in field kicks also.

All I said was that the soft tissue injuries were starting to stack up which is true. Didn't mention anything about having hard luck with overall injuries or anything like that. Medical misjudgment yes but not bizarre over-reaction.

Wasn’t actually referring to you. I would have quoted you if so.

Yeah sorry for jumping the gun mate. Was having a generally testy morning and was easily set off.

All good friend! One of those mornings in the office where anything and everything was going wrong! Past the worst of it.

So he did it in the second quarter and they still took the risk to keep playing him, now he’s missed a week? Hmmm, I’ve lost confidence with our medical staff after the Viney debacle. Funny how our injuries have “bobbed up” since then. Maybe Misson gets a bonus for a KPI “games loss through injury.” Some weird injury stuff happening, Viney, Hibberd, Stretch, Melksham etc.

You want to sack someone different every week.

That's good.

Wow you can make some really offensive comments but a bonus for injury

Melksham had a similar injury early on in season, he could play but decision taken out of his hands

Stress fractures or hotspots are difficult to find, Stretch was lucky the caught it early

Hibbo still doesn't know what caused his quad he was fine through whole session and was having a kick at the end

I disagree. He's our second best set shot behind Tommy. Would love to see some stats on this - couldn't find any.

Think of the Richmond game earlier in the year where Jesse couldn't hit the side of a barn and Jake kept us in it with his kicking.

He's kicked 22.20 this year. Kicked 21.6 last year.

TMac has kicked 40.13. Kicked 23.7 last year.

Jesse has kicked 42.19. Kicked 20.6 last year.

Yeah, we're talking set shots though. I found his 50% conversion rate, but that doesn't tell us what his set shots have been like. I think you'll find a lot of those misses were snaps.

So you were, my bad.

Not sure if the AFL pro stats cover it. Or if champion data keep the stat.

  • DRAFT: The Next Generation

It was not long after the announcement that Melbourne's former number 1 draft pick Tom Scully was departing the club following 31 games and two relatively unremarkable seasons to join expansion team, the Greater Western Giants, on a six-year contract worth about $6 million, that a parody song based on Adele's hit "Someone Like You" surfaced on social media. The artist expressed lament over Scully's departure in song, culminating in the promise, "Never mind, we'll find someone like you," although I suspect that the undertone of bitterness in this version exceeded that of the original.

  • AFLW REPORT: Brisbane

A steamy Springfield evening set the stage for a blockbuster top-four clash between two AFLW heavyweights. Brisbane, the bookies’ favourites, hosted Melbourne at a heaving Brighton Homes Arena, with 5,022 fans packing in—the biggest crowd for a Melbourne game this season. It was the 11th meeting between these fierce rivals, with the Dees holding a narrow 6–4 edge. But while the Lions brought the chaos and roared loudest, the Demons aren’t done yet.
