I know the humour of this...yet it's a salient point. Were it not for Max's other outstanding abilities...

Max shouldn't miss the sitters. No one should.

When we sit down for dinner at my mother-in-law's place - we remind ourselves to say grace after the meal - as an indication of what a lousy cook she happens to be. There is perhaps one saving characteristic: she could kick for goal close-in better than Max can.

Out:   Billy stretch  (injured)

In:  Bernie Vince

Play Salem in Billy's position and Bernie into the backline.

So we overlook the 8 precision kicks , some of 50m to players able to run away into attack. Week after week. Hibberd can do it, Salem when on the backline, who else can hit targets  like Lewis can?

That's what most said about Frost when we brought Petty in. Look how that worked out.

I'm not against Baker playing, but I think with 7 weeks to go we add players with more AFL experience to the side.

Frosty has to cement his spot and play like he did last week consistently, he has show flashes of form previous to only drop off a cliff. If he can, we look more likely to play finals than not.

thanks for providing some balance and logic to the conversation.  It wont get you too far though, some MFC fans just don't like Lewis and as soon as he plays a poor game they jump on him regardless of his previous form

As a golfer i say his swing plane is all wrong

Needs to follow down the target line more emphatically

Tmac (t1000) does it well in his stiff cyborg like action

I agree his kicking is generally elite

But he is playing a last back sweeper role in a hard press

Its like the extra man in defence role your possesion count looks great you look great but that isnt where the game is won

I want someone who can bend over and pick up a hard ball and cop a tackle if necessary and can kick as a sweeper

Hibberd and jetta do it.

Is that too much to ask ffs!

I think the swaps are about right given whats on offer

We need a foot skilled dasher off half back (an extra hibberd) and robbie flower on the wing

Easy!

Opposition recruits do it all the time - at our expense. That is because they have space to prepare their despatch of the ball and it appears, time to do as they please all because Lewis is on their tail so no threat for easy disposals. He'll most probably fall over when he sees/realises that these opponents are gaining big ground on his ability to pursue and tackle.

Lewis knows what should be done and he knows how it is done - better than most. The problem is: he can no longer do it himself. Make a great coaching acquisition, though - to the correct audience of eager young beavers trying to become mighty Demons....

  • NON-MFC: Round 06

The Easter Round kicks off in style with a Thursday night showdown between Brisbane and Collingwood, as both sides look to solidify their spots inside the Top 4 early in the season. Good Friday brings a double-header, with Carlton out to claim consecutive wins when they face the struggling Kangaroos, while later that night the Eagles host the Bombers in Perth, still chasing their first victory of the year. Saturday features another marquee clash as the resurgent Crows look to rebound from back-to-back losses against a formidable GWS outfit. That evening, all eyes will be on Marvel Stadium where Damien Hardwick returns to face his old side—the Tigers—coaching the Suns at a ground he's never hidden his disdain for. Sunday offers two crucial contests where the prize is keeping touch with the Top 8. First, Sydney and Port Adelaide go head-to-head, followed by a fierce battle between the Bulldogs and the Saints. Then, Easter Monday delivers the traditional clash between two bitter rivals, both desperate for a win to stay in touch with the top end of the ladder. Who are you tipping this week and what are the best results for the Demons?

What were they thinking? I mean by “they” the coaching panel and team selectors who chose the team to play against an opponent who, like Melbourne, had made a poor start to the season and who they appeared perfectly capable of beating in what was possibly the last chance to turn the season around. It’s no secret that the Demons’ forward line is totally dysfunctional, having opened the season barely able to average sixty points per game which means there has been no semblance of any system from the team going forward into attack. Nevertheless, on Saturday night at the Adelaide Oval in one of the Gather Round showcase games, Melbourne, with Max Gawn dominating the hit outs against a depleted Essendon ruck resulting from Nick Bryan’s early exit, finished just ahead in clearances won and found itself inside the 50 metre arc 51 times to 43. The end result was a final score that had the Bombers winning 15.6 (96) to 8.9 (57). On balance, one could expect this to result in a two or three goal win, but in this case, it translated into a six and a half goal defeat because they only managed to convert eight times or 11.68% of their entries. The Bombers more than doubled that. On Thursday night at the same ground, the losing team Adelaide managed to score 100 points from almost the same number of times inside 50.
