Reading the tea leaves as one does i dont think it too long a bow to suggest ..well ..1...some familar names won't be so familiar at seasons end...and 2 ...as a result they'll either look around....or be shopped...or have enquiries made of them.

Some that might have been on our best 22 lists at seasons start may struggle to find a spot.

Are they happy to be depth... play the Magoos with occasional elevation....or....

Do they stay or do they go ?

Going to be some surprises...for some.

That may be so, the players that are being left out are going have to adjust and I'm sure they will do everything in their power to d so. I feel for Dom, he's done a lot of the hard work over the last few years and it would be a shame for him to miss out now if we play finals.

Some on here wrote off Gus and he's bounced back as I'm sure Hunt will and probably Dom as well.

The side is so much better for the inclusion of Fritsch, Spargo and even Bull and the improved form of Brayshaw. And, sadly I guess for the non inclusion of Bugg, Frost, Stretch, Wagner who all fit into the NQR category. There are some others who are sadly out of form but in form are in the best 22, or close to it e.g. Garlett, Hunt. Not sure where Tyson fits in. Nor Kent.. although he's invariably injured.

I hate the term "NQR" but I think we can only afford to carry two or three (absolute maximum) of these players.

They can play a role, but as soon as we rely on them in key positions we begin to struggle.

Melksham's versatility actually hindered him at Essendon and we couldn't decide either, kudos to whichever coach decided forward

Yes....a great move.  I must say he was very disappointing at the start or 2017.  Thought that we had not bought well. But now a very valuable forward.

Well, there's your problem, Saty!  All good footy supporters worth their salt are very much ONE-eyed!  LOL

I am good with that

Having too many first round picks on their list has hurt them in the long run, it has not been good for a lot of young men who would have had good careers at other clubs, instead plenty have been left rotting on the vine.

And we would certainly know all about that.

Good summation of the positive changes, and of the "fringe".  Kent seems just unable to stay on the track.

I would include Weideman in the first group who have improved the side.

CB - NQR is certainly  far less offensive than the all too often used terms "dud" or "spud".

The quality of senior experience that has walked out of that joint in 5 years would make your hair turn white if you were a Bagger. Had they kept a lot of the players they let go, they would be close to a premiership caliber team.

Re the players leaving, Malthouse was so bad for Carlton, I still think Eddie was paying a retainer, you could make an argument that Malthouse has been worse for Carlton than Neeld was for us.

James Harmes last 4 games

25.5 disposals,  5.5 marks,  5.5 tackles, 3.3 Inside 50's,  3.3 clearances, 7.8 score involvements

His season disposal average now above per 20 per game after a slow first month.

Plus one of the best in the  league at forcing turnovers. HiS defensive work is first class.

The progressive expressions on Rodan's face throughout the third quarter onslaught are priceless: can't believe I had to play for this same mob in 2013.

Similar thoughts certainly went through my mind as well.  Noticed a few Rye smiles from Rodan at times.  I do think he would have been genuinely happy for the his mates like Jonesy, T Mac etc and the team in general and don't seriously think he would have any resentment of his previous service to the club, such is the upbeat impression I get of the guy.

Really liked Rodan's contribution to the club in his time there and think it was a small but valuable part of the building process/journey to where the MFC is presently at.

There were a number of Demonland Trackwatchers at Gosch's Paddock this morning to bring you their observations from Preseason Training. KEV MARTIN'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS They were going hard at each other. The sims were in two 15 minute blocks. The second block finished a few minutes early, they gathered and had another 7 minutes at it. I think they were asked to compete, as they would play against an opposition. There was plenty of niggle, between some of them. At the end o

Better late than never … and quite frankly, there’s very little to report other than that training took place at Casey Fields this morning, that Tracc was there nursing his rib injury and that some photographs are on the club’s social media including this one of Clarrie in Raging Bull stance that gives rise for confidence. The other news is that the club has a new train on player in 185cm Dandenong Stingrays midfielder Noah Hibbins-Hargreaves (love the hyphenated name which is just so fitti

Welcome back to Demonland for those like me who have been on vacation. I’m posting this with some trepidation because of a certain amount of uncertainty surrounding the return of preseason training in 2025 after a flurry of weddings including those of our coach, one of our superstar players and a former premiership champion player and bloke, not to mention the recent mysterious incident that occurred on the Mornington Peninsula.  I believe that the team reassembles this morning at Casey Fie

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to
