I didn't have any concerns on Weideman as my opinions will testify and i know what i'm talking about....

One thing Weideman would have noticed yesterday was the lack of close attention he could have received in a normal game with this mob.

Eddy must have said something or Dunnee must have said nothing, or both...

Happy for Weid. I'm sure he copped some ribbings over time from family and friends for not being in the beloved Black and White. Deserves to feel good about yesterday. 

We now need to lock him in for a few years.  Would hate for him to finally start to be showing something and then walk out on us.  

I have been very critical of Weideman and this was probably the most impressive game he has played for me. Darcy Moore is having a great season and always is a factor with his intercepting. Weideman was able to contest everything against him and would have had a third goal if Vandanberg could hit a 15 meter pass. Still needs to engage the body before launching at the ball to create separation but very happy to look like I got this one wrong.

Ditto. He is asserting himself as a premier forward in the comp. Wont be too long before he snags half a dozen sausages or more.

I reckon we should probably keep this bloke.?

Very happy with what he has shown this year and our forward line looks so much better since he has been there.

Unfortunately against the Pies, we saw 2 maybe 3 incidents where TMac and Sam both ran to the same space/contest and both launched at it rather than one staying down.
I hope they can work this out so we can put on even more pressure and lock it into our forward 50 if not clunking them.

One thing that stood out to me last night was his ability to either mark the ball or make a contest.  We weren't doing that nearly enough earlier in the year and it is a key component of the style of football we want to play.  He is either clunking them or smashing the back and making sure we limit their intercept marks.  

While I can understand the frustration of some for him not playing sooner, I think the club and player have worked hard together to get him to this point and we're reaping the rewards right now.

I'm really excited by the noise around Egan as a Development coach. He seems to be a really calm, encouraging and clear voice for these younger guys.

People have had a go at Weideman for his slow development in comparison to others of his draft year, but it takes time sometimes. Look at Dustin Martin and Petracca. Their development took 6+ years before they started to really impact games. And I'd argue in a KP it's even harder. You don't have the body strength or perhaps even understand how to use your body and out position bigger more seasoned opponents.

Sam is finally learning how to use his body better and it's beginning to connect with his mind that enables him to take stronger one-grabs, rather than hesitant two-grabbers, or being pushed under the ball regularly.

I reckon our development team is still showing what a huge impact good development has on the overall success of a team and its culture.

There seems to be a real camaraderie between the list and every new guy that comes in, plays his role and then goes back to develop his game after a few shots at the big league. Kozzie, Rivers, Jackson, Lockhart, Spargo and Bedford have all shown improvement this season. Our players with a bit more experience (but are not yet seasoned vets) have also shown improvement throughout the season from Petracca, Oliver, Gus, Viney and Lever.

All really good signs that the coaches are working on the deficiencies of these guys and improving them all. I'd like to see more improvement from Viney in particular around his ball use and his see-ball, get-ball approach, but he's still been a very consistent contributor and one of our better players across the season (even if it was at the expense IMV of Brayshaw).

In the modern game, it's hard to kick regular big bags like the days of old. Hawkins did it the other night, but it's a rarity and we should be delighted at Weideman's improvement over the last 5 or 6 weeks. I have a feeling Richardson might have a big say in that too. 2 goals a game is very handy and I'd be happy if he kept going at this for the rest of the season and didn't kick a bag. I think consistency in his position is one of the biggest hurdles, so keeping the bar realistic (which is sounds like Richardson has encouraged) is a really good thing and will help him in the long run.

I’m just waiting for him to kick a bag. At least two-three times this year he’s had the chance to kick 4 or more, and again against the Lions he could’ve won the game for us off his own boot, so his inaccuracies have cost him I’d say another 6 goals to his tally which would put him at the top of our tally. 

I’ve really like his game since he came in, he just needs to put it into a more rounded performance with accurate kicking and he could get himself a big bag. I also think that if he did that it would do huge things for his confidence.
