Lever on SEN Tuesday 21/11 @ 8:25am

Good to see the Dees haven’t gone the full messiah complex and rolled out a massive Lever media blitz, just left the young fella to blend in.

Lever yesterday at training " I want to help this club become great again."

Today on Sen " I spoke to Collingwood but it was always Melbourne due to the age demographic."

Good on you Jake!

Here's a quick summary:

  • Still loves Adelaide, didn't want to leave but Melbourne offered too much money
  • Hopes Tom McDonald plays forward because there isn't enough room for them both in the backline
  • Admitted that he wanted West Coast to win in round 23 because he was hoping Naitanui would be fit for finals (loves watching him play)
  • Grew up a Carlton supporter so was upset that he didn't get a chance to play with Gibbs at Adelaide
  • Thinks Melbourne are a few years away from playing finals, hopes we can get some high draft picks in the next couple of years
  • He thinks Port Adelaide are the team to beat next year with Watts and Trengove
  • After his first training session he couldn't believe how unfit his new teammates are

If anyone actually listened to the interview and can fill in the gaps, that would be great.

* obviously a fake accounting of the actual interview.

LOL, took me until bullet point 5 to realise what was happening. Well played, CB.

Points 1 (still loves Adelaide), 2 (wanting T Mac playing fwd) and to a lesser extent 4 (would've loved to play with Gibbs) actually make sense.

  • REPORT: St. Kilda

One of the big stories of the AFL off-season was the spending spree of Melbourne’s Round 1 opponent, St Kilda. They splashed out heavily, first to retain Nasiah Wanganeen-Milera - the hero of last year’s epic come-from-behind miracle victory -turning him into a $2 million man. They then effectively took out an expensive overdraft to recruit a string of expensive players from other clubs. It was a risky investment strategy and, although it’s still early days, it certainly failed to pay off in Sunday’s season opener, with much of the glitter turning to fool’s gold.
