Did PJ say on SEN we have a home game against a Victorian team in Round 1?

I think we will play the Pies round 1 on a Friday night, as they requested months ago. Wouldn't be a home game unless they are given QB hosting. Would be massive for the club. 80k+, Lever-Dees debut

Pre season game against Hawks in Launceston is now against Norf in Hobart. Pies no longer playing here and Hawks now playing Carlton.

Probably means no game v Norf in actual season.

He did say that but sounded more hopeful than confirmatory.

I really hope that's the case and we avoid North in Hobart in the home and away season.

Seems to be a ground  where we simply can't adjust to the conditions and consequently pee 4 points down the drain.

Early whispers.

* We're not playing Collingwood in round 1

* Brisbane at the GABBA round 2 on Easter Saturday.

*A chance we could be hosting Adelaide in round 1

My #1 wish is for a bye after Darwin. Secondly, no string of 6 day breaks. It was admirable how the side coped with it this year at the time but eventually it took a heavy toll

So now that we play Norf in Hobart in the pre season, we can play them at the G, beat them, and get on with a successful season?

Sure it has been a problem, but to be truly successful one needs to be able to analyze and overcome such problems.

It is not the same issue as unfairly having to play in Darwin (or CNS), get physically drained from that, then play a team that has just had a “normal” game the following week.  That is the big killer.

  • PREVIEW: Essendon

Not long ago, the narrative surrounding Melbourne was steeped in pessimism. There was some concern among the pundits (and even some fans) that the club would arrive at the AFL’s Gather Round still winless, vulnerable to a familiar adversary in the Essendon Football Club, and facing significant scrutiny from an ever-critical media on a national stage. Things have changed.

  • REPORT: Gold Coast

Steven King astutely identified the issues that had plagued the Melbourne Football Club over the past two and a half seasons when he auditioned for the newly created coaching role. The side that had claimed the 2021 premiership had become stodgy, slow-paced, and hesitant to take the initiative.

  • PODCAST: Gold Coast

I’ll be away for the next few weeks, so Binman will be holding the fort for our podcasts covering the Suns, Bombers and Lions matches. As a result, there will be no live podcasts during this period, and we won’t be taking calls or voicemails. Binman will still be dipping into this thread to select a few questions to answer, while also combining the long-form Stats Files podcast with the Demonland Podcast for these shows. Your questions and comments are a huge part of what makes the podcast work, so please post anything you’d like to ask or say below and we’ll do our best to give you a shout-out on the show. Please try to keep each post focused on one specific topic or player to make podcast preparation a little easier. If you have multiple topics you’d like to raise, please put them in separate posts.
