Anyone got the gif of Spencil rag dolling that guy in the VFL from a year or two ago? That was a classic tackle!

The Dees Podcast put it up on Facebook the other day

Thought he had a good game and got better as the day went on. Was pleased with his marking and ground level work.

Got smashed in the hitouts but I kind of expected it against Sandilands.

Battled on well against Sandilands and made a good contribution. Well done Spencil.

He played really well and I think even when Gawn comes back could hold his spot if he continues to play the way he did.

Offers more up forward than Weideman at the moment and is a very good back up ruck.

Really hope we use them in tandem when Gawn returns and run with Watts and Hogan as the tall forwards.

Depending on the match ups and venue i think that is worth a try Dom. The extra tall taking a few clunks across half forward might be just the tonic and he can ruck as you say. Frees up our best ball user and most accurate kicker in front of goal in Watts a little more also.

Congratulations Big Fella - a very sound return to AFL.

Liked his inspiring mark and goal in the 4th (after JW4's equally inspiring one) -- pity the rest of the tea were not as inspired as the fans were by them.

Re the fantastic tackle highlighted above - knowing the vagaries and inconsistencies of the MRP he would probably get 2-3 with an early guilty plea for a dangerous sling tackle.

I thought he was excellent, even taking in to account the hitout diff. Sandilands is a genuine monster - once you take into account armspan he's got to have 10cm on Jake. You'd expect to lose the hitouts against Sandi - so groundwork and physicality becomes crucial. This is what the Russian did well in his strong years.

Jake got involved in the clearance work a number of times, filled the hole in defence and looked dangerous when forward. Couldn't ask for more in my opinion - hopefully in the next few weeks against ruckmen of a more civilised size, he can add a few hitouts while maintaining his around the ground work.
