With multi's at the TAB we haven't got the option of 'Each-Way' so you have to painstakingly put separate bets on - or,  ring them and ask them to put all the configurations on.

I've arrived at doing it a different way - I'm banking on getting 2 from 3 winners or 3 from 4 winners so will do a series of separate bets for the win only.

e.g.  we arrive at 3 best bets over the course of the week.  I will then put all 3 on for the win in a multi and any 2 of the 3 for the win only as well (a double)

If we end up with 4 picks or if I want to add another to the 3 I will repeat the same process but have 'saver' bets on 3 of the 4.

In a nutshell we identified 6 best bets today (in a roundabout way)  ... Eurack (W)  Snitty Kitty (2nd) Bedford (W) Bye See (W) Don't Give A Damn (W) and Dainty Tess (yet to run)  All 6 were 'reinforced by at least one of us other than the person who originally identified the best bet.

I'm not going to count 'From Within' in the 1st at Rosehill as I thought it was only each way value.

Ok yes, i see. But with a multi, you can put on different horses to win on different tracks right, which you cant do with a parlay. I think now you can also do multi place bets??

Pyke gets too far back at times i reckon, leaves the run a bit late. Overconfident sometimes.

Yes, the multi was fixed odds which you can place on different tracks. A tote all up/parlay (haven't done one for a while) is at the same track only to my knowledge.

Its actually good when i see it like that, otherwise its written over different posts and i have trouble reading back sometimes. Perhaps we could lay it out like this by 12pm raceday if possible. That was really good picking by you guys today. Pity about Shitty Kitty!

Imagine my pain when I would venture to the Tab on Saturday whilst living in Brisbane a few years ago to place a tote all up bet.

No EBTs back then up there and your ticket gets printed on the back of the betting card you fill out. Same size as the ones down here, can you imagine putting 5 of those cards in your wallet lol?

It's early doors Wadda ... we'll get ourselves organised over time.  No rush.

I've seen enough today to see us getting some decent collects.  I got 2 collects today and if I hadn't have cashed out on one of them I would have had a very very good day.

No regrets though as I worked out a way to do it all in the future (see post above) But that's my way ... each individual can do as he or she sees fit.

Obviously we're all going to see 1 best bet as the week goes on but in the end I could see 3 or 4 because of your suggestions and D77's suggestions.

Maybe we could all put our 1 best bet out there and then another one after everyone has had their go ... the decent fixed odds need to be snapped up early though by the looks of it.  Just about everything we liked shortened from Friday evening onwards (re fixed odds)

Spot on Macca, early doors indeed.

Then there is also the betting plunges in the 5 mins before the race. Ive never really understood these and how they work? I guess some of it is late money by Whales waiting to see if everything is right with the horse. But other times it seems everyone gets wind of some thing, like the Expressway today. Global Glamour just went out the gate and ran accordingly. The winner had a lot of late money come for it.

I wanted to go to the Tab and check the cash out prior to the Dainty Tess race for my multi,  I had a couple of drinks and thought better of it.

The four horses you listed for Rosehill Macca, I put that on at $126 on the Thursday night. Kopi Luwak scratched so it only ended up a 3 leg multi and From Within was the only failure.

My two multis missed by a leg each. It was only our first week trying this and we have better knowledge of some horses for future runs.

So if there is a scratching in the multi, does it just miss that leg and carry over?

I've always thought that there is a lot of 'knowledge' about that us mug punters never hear about.  There is no sure-fire system but I like to eliminate a lot of the doubt involved.  The less doubt the better.

And that's why I'm going to do 3 doubles within a 3 pick multi ... each way is probably not the way to go because of the negligible odds we're going to get for the place for any of these best bets.

Same for a 4 leg multi (4 trio's within that 4 pick) ... again,  that's my way as I can't see any of us finding a best bet that is good each way value.  Unless we do of course and then the place dividend does comes into it.

That way you don't have to worry too much about cashing out as you've already picked up at least 1 'Double' within a 3 pick multi.  Or a trio in a 4 pick multi.

That leg is completely taken out (odds for the scratched horse deducted) instead of having odds of $126 for the four legs, i now have the combined odds for the remaining 3 runners.

Spot on Macca, I thought about that after having trouble mucking around with the Tab app for each way multis. I couldn't find a way to do them on fixed odds.

Yeah it does ... there are no substitutes.

I also reckon by going away from the Melbourne races (when it suits) give us a better chance of winning.  For instance,  my 3 favourite courses to have a bet are Rosehill,  Randwick & Flemington.

And I probably prefer Ascot to Caulfield ... Moonee Valley has returned mixed results.  Of course I do love all the big Group races from anywhere.

But I can see myself finding those best bets from outside of the big Group races.  Trifecta's preferred in the big races (mainly because of the depth of winning chances)

I know 1 big punter, no names and its for racing overseas, where he owns some horses in Singapore. He actually rings the barrier attendant to get the last word on the horse as its going into the gate, before placing his bet.

Saturday's are going to be busy on this thread by the looks of it ... and the Autumn carnival hasn't even kicked off yet!

And believe it or not,  I'm really looking forward to the European season (early May through to our Spring) All the big races (2 or 3 every weekend) are posted up on youtube hours later (the quality of the uploads are often first rate too)

I'll be in trifecta heaven when those races come around!

Really wow...haha good work! Yes well footy is pretty boring this time of year, so good on us.

So now im still not 100% sure. If i place a 4 leg multi on the TAB on say Thursday and come Saturday 1 leg is scratched, does that ticket pay out?

Ha ha!

I'm often suspicious when a trainer has multiple horses in a race (especially the Group races)  The Hayes clan often produces a lightweight winner from nowhere.  And that's been going on for decades.

And would you ever trust a jockey?  Punters have a love/hate relationship with nearly all the successful ones.

It's all good fun though as long as one bets smart and never to excess.  We're all looking for the big payout and why not?

Well i do know that 1 particular Jockeys nickname was Danny the Brakeman....you can probably work out who that was.

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
