Lombardo for me. Very good field and quite a few can win but if Lombardo is running I’m on it.

Yeah they run from the shoot at Sale so only one turn over the 1100m/1200m (like Caulfield & Pakenham)

And Lombardo has drawn well where as a few others have to work across to get onto the speed (notably In the Boat & Savatoxl)

Lombardo is included!

I'm going to include 'In the Boat' but 'Vainstream' is good value - ran a slick time winning 2 starts back ... at Sale!

Host of chances in that race…I’m struggling to pick the winner.
@Gorgoroth I’ll choose Halvorsen for a top 4 spot if we throw one each in.

So we choosing one each for a tri/F4/sgm?

Or we could pluck the eyes out of all the choices

I'm probably going to box 5 in an exacta and hope that my value/roughie choices can run in the first 2!!

Well if you and Steve stow out a selection I’ll combine them for a bit of fun, I’m only betting on that race today

Not sure if I will have a bet today but if I was it would be

Race 6 number 1 Savatoxl

You cannot fault that first up form and the $15 looks like a good offer.

I got the exacta in the first so I'm up and running, Gorg

Was only going to have a bet in the $500k event but the fields aren't too shabby and I'm having a day on the couch so why not!

Savatoxl has been included by Steve so there's some value in the exotics if successful (including the exacta)

Did a same game multi with Lombardo, sav, in the boat and Halv. $76 boosted was decent.

Yeah I've gone with a wide exacta in the race ... bit like an each-way bet but that strategy has worked before when the value has got into the top 2

In the boat was in a speed boat! Smashed them. Lombardo didn’t look good from the jump.

Got a big future but more so the way the way it won against that field (3 lengths to 2nd with a big gap to the rest) Ideal horse for the big sprints at the Valley & Caulfield

A definite Blackbooker

BH flew home again as it does but no match for the winner

 Best bet Saturday

Caulfield Race 7 No.12 Grandslam

$6.5 (W) & $2.5 (P)

Good luck and have a Safe and Happy Easter everyone.

3 best bets in (so far)

Mamounia has shortened but the value is there for any number of multi combo's

The 3 winning in a multi is showing 250-1 (290-1 with a boost) whilst the 3 running the place is at the odds of about 12-1 (with a boost)

Cheers Macca, plan B is now a goer.

Best Bet

Oakbank Race 9 No.1 Deep Speed $2.8(W)

A bit of weight on even after the claim, hence why I went with Grandslam originally.

Good luck all.

All 3 winning paying about 100-1

Using Witchchar Star for the place with the other 2 winning, the dividend is about 25-1

My pick of the day has been scratched.

If your game have a little on race 7 Number 14 Esti Feny. Could fill out the tri at good odds.

WS came out well and looked like it was making a good run before veering off to the right and losing momentum.

I'm well and truly alive in my multi's with WS running on for 3rd.  Got out to 3.10 the place as well

Good get, Gorg

Mammonia salutes and did it well but cunning Fox really pushed it hard at the end.

Got the early double with our picks along with the 5-1 win odds I got for Mamounia on Wednesday

Had your pick to win in the big paying multi but was happy to use the place odds for 'WS' in a couple of other multi's

And get this; I backed Kementari and it won - that's a first!!

So Deep Speed (DZ's pick) will deliver a decent payout if it salutes!

Thought count de rupee had won for me but my grey darling Polly Grey saluted and by 6 lengths!!!

So Nash gets suspended for his ride as there was insufficient room and the bump t9 Big Parade caused the jockey to stop riding and right the horse. Hence they suspended him.

So if that’s the case and the gap was too small and it impeded big parade  why was the correct weight given and the result to stand.
To me it’s either both or none.

Did the rider of Big Parade lodge a protest?  If not, I'm not sure that the stewards ever lodge by default

In the UK & USA the stewards often do lodge autonomous protests but I can't remember the last time that has happened here

Big Parade might have run it's race thus no protest ... just watched the replay - Big Parade looked spent

  • PREVIEW: Carlton

Good evening, Demon fans and welcome back to the Demonland Podcast ... it’s time to discuss this week’s game against the Blues. Will the Demons celebrate Clayton Oliver’s 200th game with a victory? We have a number of callers waiting on line … Leopold Bloom: Carlton and Melbourne are both out of finals contention with six wins and eleven losses, and are undoubtedly the two most underwhelming and disappointing teams of 2025. Both had high expectations at the start of participating and advancing deep into the finals, but instead, they have consistently underperformed and disappointed themselves and their supporters throughout the year. However, I am inclined to give the Demons the benefit of the doubt, as they have made some progress in addressing their issues after a disastrous start. In contrast, the Blues are struggling across the board and do not appear to be making any notable improvements. They are regressing, and a significant loss is looming on Saturday night. Max Gawn in the ruck will be huge and the Demon midfield have a point to prove after lowering their colours in so many close calls.

  • REPORT: North Melbourne

I suppose that I should apologise for the title of this piece, but the temptation to go with it was far too great. The memory of how North Melbourne tore Melbourne apart at the seams earlier in the season and the way in which it set the scene for the club’s demise so early in the piece has been weighing heavily upon all of us. This game was a must-win from the club’s perspective, and the team’s response was overwhelming. The 36 point win over Alastair Clarkson’s Kangaroos at the MCG on Sunday was indeed — roovenge of the highest order!

  • CASEY: Werribee

The Casey Demons remain in contention for a VFL finals berth following a comprehensive 76-point victory over the Werribee Tigers at Whitten Oval last night. The caveat to the performance is that the once mighty Tigers have been raided of many key players and are now a shadow of the premiership-winning team from last season. The team suffered a blow before the game when veteran Tom McDonald was withdrawn for senior duty to cover for Steven May who is ill.  However, after conceding the first goal of the game, Casey was dominant from ten minutes in until the very end and despite some early errors and inaccuracy, they managed to warm to the task of dismantling the Tigers with precision, particularly after half time when the nominally home side provided them with minimal resistance.
