That was a blow out ... Pakistan Star dominant.

Sure was, sounds like hes had an erratic career but found some form. Bit like the Dees today!

That guy in the floral jacket gets my vote... :)

Just needed Hot King Prawn to run a plc and i picked up a small 4 leg multi with the Dees, so happy about that.

Daniel Ricciardo is going around in the Azerbaijan GP tonight. Theres not much between the cars and the track suits the Red Bulls. Fresh off his maiden win for the season last weekend, a win tonight would see him take the lead in the championship for the first time ever if Vettal has an average race.   At 7/1 its not a bad flutter.

Race is on at 10pm tonight.

Since the racing has slowed down a little, im going to throw my sport multi in that i take every week. I like going for home teams and lower margins in more even games. Ive done ok with them over the years, but lately its been a bit hard, with a few upsets around the place. I generally just take AFL & NRL but occasionally throw in some others. I also try and keep it to a max of 6 legs.

So FWIW:

Melbourne 1-39 $2.40 (I think we have too much to play for to lose, dry track as well, but will be close)

Western Bulldogs 1-39 $2.06 (well youd think!!..... bullies will get the job done)

Geelong Cats 1-39 $2.08 (Danger game, but tipping Geelong at home)

Richmond H2H $1.50  (should account for Collingwood)

Hawthorn H2H $1.42 (StKilda are terrible, could be a big win for the Hawks)

Penrith H2H $1.52   (to get up at home over Canterbury)

Manley H2H $1.52  (You would think will beat Newcastle)

61.03 (enhanced) for $7.00 = $427.18

Ok so i have to do my review of my weekly multi and see where i went wrong. Geelong was the blowout. Most thought theyd beat a Sydney team with a few injuries inc Franklin down at Cat Park. The other one was Manly, losing to Newcastle, also a bit unexpected. Wont be counting on Manly in the future, they have done this sort of thing before too. The rest went pretty much to plan. 1 too many legs perhaps?

Macca, your mate was spot on with his NBA assessment and his line call on the Boston Celtics. Easily made their line. Good call. Looks like they also screwed up on Geelong. 1-39. You went very close with that line call on the Crusaders also......was it 13 in the end i think? Bad luck. Nice to see you went against the flow which was 13+. Much better odds.

Found another race (Hollindale St.) this upcoming Saturday that could be a decent trifecta race - and it's a good field assembled too if the early acceptors are any indication.  In fact,  all 3 races have a number of very good horses that have been accepted. So 3 races in all that could suit although there may be 1 or 2 other races that might measure up.

A.D. Hollindale Stakes  Gold Coast  1800m  G2  WFA  $358k

Australasian Oaks  Morphettville  2000m  G1  SW  $500k

Robert Sangster Stakes  1200m  G1  WFA  $1Million

Trifecta Strike Rate

2: 1 - 1 (+66.50)

No rush but we probably should decide by Friday Evening ...

Great choices Macca. The Oaks appeal to me at the moment but will have a deeper look tomorrow. A lot of quality running around. Thanks for posting the track configurations.

The sprint races at Morphettville have a 400m dash to a 400m bend which is worth noting ... those race links to racenet.com also have speed maps and settling positions which are also more than handy when evaluating a trifecta combo.

As you'd know DZ,  the wide barriers aren't always a hindrance for those horses with early speed.  Especially if those horses to their immediate left are not fast starters.

As you said,  there are some quality fields assembled on the weekend.  I like the Oaks race as well as the Euclase Stakes.

One of my favourites in Despatch ($11 TAB) taking on Nature Strip and Viridine.  I am looking forward to this race.

Yep ... it's drawn gate 1 and according to racenet Despatch has the fastest barrier speed and should settle in the lead or near the lead.  Won in convincing fashion at its last start but its up against some good horses in this race.

Viridine was a good thing beaten at its last run whilst Nature Strip is a classy horse.  She's So High is another - trained by Mick Price with Oliver on board.

The pools will be biggest in the oaks and the Hollindale. And i reckon sprints can sometimes throw up a bolter because bad luck can scupper a favorites chances where at longer distances horses can better recover from a bad start, tricky barrier, check or get out of a pocket (sometimes). Also i like the big field in both races as sometimes in such races (particularly in Autumn i reckon) you can draw a line through many of the horses and there are usually on a handful of legitimate chances of winning.

Not a bad race the Hollindale, but i would be leaning to the Oaks, mainly because the Morphetville  track races predictably, is usually good and gives all runners their chance. Always wary of regional tracks like Gold Coast.

If we go the Oasks i'll jump early and take Savacool. A terrific win last start and i just love horses that have that will to win as you always get a good sight. Six starts for 3 win and 3 seconds is testament to that spirit.

Im easy about it. I would tend to lean towards Morphetville, then we can have JJs picks to help us as well. may identify some place getters.

Well the Oaks it is then ...

binman has gone with 'Savacool so it's over to you @Wadda We Sing

I have a few ideas, but id like to compare notes with James Jordan before final selection. Im thinking his form should be out by tonight?

My other thought is there are 3 Weir runners. They are all good and at least 1 will run a place if not win. Does that make it easier or harder?

Are we changing the order around this time @Macca or keeping the same? I let the team down last week?

I hadn't thought of that DZ

Maybe leave it as it is for 4 week blocks?

This would be week 3

Good plan, I’m happy with that.

Macca, is James Jordan on Racing.com Get On show on tonight isnt it? What time??

On a side note, currently wanting Houston Rockets to get up against Utah in the NBA playoffs. I took them at 11+. They were 14pts down at one stage and have fought back to be +4 midway through the 3rd.

Think i need your mates advice on the NBA Macca~!

Yes JJ is on 'Get on' but he only gives out his best bet of the day. Sometime after 8 30pm

Racing.com had his tips last week but they only went up on the Saturday.

Ok, well unlikely his best will be in our race. So in that case im going with the Weir runner by So You Think ~ No 4. Think Bleue. Bit of a wide gate, but should be in the finish. Might not win, but probably run a place. Think we may have the winner already.

Yeah I like Savacool to win as well but 'Think Bleue' has good speed from the barrier and the horse inside it (Pretty to Sea) should bring your pick near to a leading position.

It could be a bit of a mad scramble to the first turn though Wadda and that's why my pick is a Weir Horse that has drawn a decent barrier - 'Sopressa'  The inside gate should see the horse get a nice run in the race and it's in decent form.

So here's how we sit with @Dee Zephyr to finish off ...

  • W/2/3  -  Savacool
  • W/2/3  -  Think Bleue
  • W/2/3  -  Sopressa
  • 2/3       -   ????????
  • 2/3       -   ????????

I dont think we need to rush this. Im happy to wait till we know all the facts, weather, scratchings, JJs selections for the race etc etc. I for one am happy to wait until Saturday morning.

I note Pleasuring is top selection in the tips and Damien Lane is riding it out of the 3 Weir horses....

I suppose that's up to DZ but whilst there's been a bit of rain in Adelaide today the forecast is for mainly fine weather tomorrow & Saturday.  The track is still graded as a Good4 so it probably won't be downgraded to slow.

We should have a contingency plan for scratchings though Wadda and I suppose whoever is in the position that DZ is in now could get to make the executive decision?  Picks 4 & 5 finishes off the bet as it is.

It will be interesting to see JJ's tip but I'd be surprised if it wasn't one of our top 3.  There's a few more that can get into the finish and Identifying those horses is the other half of the battle.

Hi fellas.

How do you want to go about this? I can list them now or do you prefer Raceday? I’ve also got 3 “ Emergencies” ready to go in case of scratchings.

@Wadda We Sing raise the bat mate! 3000 likes!!

  • WHAT’S NEXT? by The Oracle

What’s next for a beleagured Melbourne Football Club down in form and confidence, facing  intense criticism and disapproval over some underwhelming recent performances and in the midst of a four game losing streak? Why, it’s Adelaide which boasts the best percentage in the AFL and has won six of its last seven games. The Crows are hot and not only that, the game is at the Adelaide Oval; yet another away fixture and the third in a row at a venue outside of Victoria. One of the problems the Demons have these days is that they rarely have the luxury of true home ground advantage, something they have enjoyed just once since mid April.

  • REPORT: Gold Coast

From the start, Melbourne’s performance against the Gold Coast Suns at Peoples First Stadium was nothing short of a massive botch up and it came down in the first instance to poor preparation. Rather than adequately preparing the team for battle against an opponent potentially on the skids after suffering three consecutive losses, the Demons looking anything but sharp and ready to play in the opening minutes of the game. By way of contrast, the Suns demonstrated a clear sense of purpose and will to win. From the very first bounce of the ball they were back to where they left off earlier in the season in Round Three when the teams met at the MCG. They ran rings around the Demons and finished the game off with a dominant six goal final term. This time, they produced another dominant quarter to start the game, restricting Melbourne to a solitary point to lead by six goals at the first break, by which time, the game was all but over.

  • CASEY: Gold Coast

Coming off four consecutive victories and with a team filled with 17 AFL listed players, the Casey Demons took to their early morning encounter with the lowly Gold Coast Suns at People First Stadium with the swagger of a team that thought a win was inevitable. They were smashing it for the first twenty minutes of the game after Tom Fullarton booted the first two goals but they then descended into an abyss of frustrating poor form and lackadaisical effort that saw the swagger and the early arrogance disappear by quarter time when their lead was overtaken by a more intense and committed opponent. The Suns continued to apply the pressure in the second quarter and got out to a three goal lead in mid term before the Demons fought back. A late goal to the home side before the half time bell saw them ten points up at the break and another surge in the third quarter saw them comfortably up with a 23 point lead at the final break.

The Demons did not come to play from the opening bounce and let the Gold Coast kick the first 5 goals of the match. They then outscored the Suns for the next 3 quarters but it was too little too late and their season is now effectively over.
