Wow ... that's a lot of work binman.

So out of the 4 best bets that you've highlighted,  have you got 1 of them as your absolute standout?  It can't be a horse in a race which has been picked already.

These are the best bets so far

Caulfield Race 4 No 1 Gailo Chop (Wadda)

Warwick Farm Race 7 No 2 Eqyptian Symbol (Macca)

Warwick Farm Race 8 No 4 Show A Star (Demon 77)

We're up and running, terrific finish to the first at Caulfield.

Shoals i would have to say in Caulfield but Itz invicible is a good thing and in a very small field reasonable value, so lets say Itz invicible

I bet with a mate and he does all the actual bets (i can't manage online bookies - too dangerous) and i do the selections and email accross to him. I have cut and pasted above and edited to remove staking.

I had a strong feeling you'd go with Itz Invincible binman ... I figured that you'd either run out of races in Melb or Syd to find a standout or you'd do a quick peruse of the races at Morphettville anyway.

So last night I had a look at the races at Morphettville and I could only find 1 absolute standout - Itz Invincible.  lol.

So Gents,  here are the 4 standout best bets ...

Caulfield Race 4 No 1 Gailo Chop (Wadda)

Morphettville Race 5 No 1 Itz Invincible (binman)

Warwick Farm Race 7 No 2 Eqyptian Symbol (Macca)

Warwick Farm Race 8 No 4 Show A Star (Demon 77)

Good luck with those 4 fellas and good punting to all!

Looks like i'm right that the track is a bit leadrish.

I have always thought Punter's Lament would be a great name for a horse. I have had my fist punters lament for the carnival already. Hayes has dome brillinatly with 2 years olds in the filast 2-3 years and i had planned to back his horses in race 2 and 3. Late change of mind say me just do so in the 3rd race and going with Pure elation instead in the second. Annoying to see Enbihaar win at 10s and then my two outsiders get back and have no chance in the next.

Looks like the track is playing like that at the moment, although your first selection in Goldstream made up a lot of ground from last.

Classic, I'll tell my mate to name his next horse "Punters Lament".

Its funny, there always seems to be one or two horses that makes up ground on leaders tracks. Like Seberate (at 15-1) who i backed in the last. I reckon some horse like having 2 or 3 to chase and relax into it.

The problem comes lining that form up next time and i reckon many tipsters over rate how good the run was ('made ground against the pattern' blah blah blah). Leaders tracks are a real issue, particularly at Caulfield. Some horse simply don't have chance either because they miss the kick, have poor luck in running or are natural swoopers and don't like racing on speed.

The problem for me is i do my form and we put all of our bets on a the start of the day so if i guess it is going to be really leaderish and i'm wrong i'm in trouble. Also by the end of the day it oftens evens up (which i take into account) but not always!

It took me a while to learn. I was one of those early days where I would follow a horse based on a horse absolutely flying home for a close up fourth or fifth in its last run. Those runs actually take a lot out of a horse and what looks like a "good thing" next start, would amount to the opposite.

I always wanted to name a horse, "Beyond the Pale"      as in there is life beyond the feed bucket and/or this is too much to bear !

...and Gailo Chop salutes....well picked me...!

Strong win Wadda. Now for the rest of the "Best".

Good start to the day with Gailo Chop (well done @Wadda We Sing)... as per usual I completely ignored the first few races at Caul & the Farm.  Too hard.

I often do that as well...start proceedings around race 4 or 5 because the early ones are just a lottery at a lot of meetings.

Well that was a heartstopper!! Well done @binman. 2/2....no pressure guys..haha.

The great bit is that we're not flying solo with this multi idea ... the team aspect makes it slightly less nerve-racking.

But nevertheless,  it's still nerve-racking!

I completely forgot that I had a small trifecta going in Gailo Chop race - small dividend but a win is a win.

Winners are grinners...well done.

Love the team aspect.

Ive taken Merchant Navy 1 out in the quaddie...fingers crossed.

Never in doubt!

Petracca is about to race in the first at Darwin, showing $13. I'd rather watch the Christian version run around.

The winner far too good there ... no prizes for 2nd.  I've still got Show A Star in a couple of 'saver' multi's so all is not lost.

The Orr delivered a brilliant finish. Thoroughly enjoyed the race even though I was cheering Brave Smash home.

It's been fun today fellas, good luck for the rest of the day.:D

They said Egyptian been racing in Qld and all the horses that had come down from there that raced today, havent done much. Show a Star looks good in the yard.

Why didn't they tell us that stuff a few days ago?  ha ha

I know I know....lost count of how many times you find out a piece of vital info post race.

There's too much information to take in Wadda ... that's why this thread is ultra helpful.  We're still in the very early stages - as time goes on the info swapped about will take on more significance.

Anyway,  'Show A Star' salutes so that's the treble (within the 4 pick)  I've doubled my outlay by utilising the saver multi's and I hope you blokes got a collect as well.

3 from 4 is always going to show a good return so the system held up (at least that's the way I'm approaching it)

Great win by Hartnell in the Orr Stakes too - what a class act that horse is.  A blanket finish though,  all the same.  My pick (Dollar for Dollar) just couldn't get a clear run at them.

There was a time during the current Melbourne cycle that goes back to before the premiership when the club was the toughest to beat in the fourth quarter. The Demons were not only hard to beat at any time but it was virtually impossible to get the better them when scores were close at three quarter time. It was only three or four years ago but they were fit, strong and resilient in body and mind. Sadly, those days are over. This has been the case since the club fell off its pedestal about 12 months ago after it beat Geelong and then lost to Carlton. In both instances, Melbourne put together strong, stirring final quarters, one that resulted in victory, the other, in defeat. Since then, the drop off has been dramatic to the point where it can neither pull off victory in close matches, nor can it even go down in defeat  gallantly.

  • CASEY: Footscray

At twenty-four minutes into the third term of the game between the Casey Demons and Footscray VFL at Whitten Oval, the visitors were coasting. They were winning all over the ground, had the ascendancy in the ruck battles and held a 26 point lead on a day perfect for football. What could go wrong? Everything. The Bulldogs moved into overdrive in the last five minutes of the term and booted three straight goals to reduce the margin to a highly retrievable eight points at the last break. Bouyed by that effort, their confidence was on a high level during the interval and they ran all over the despondent Demons and kicked another five goals to lead by a comfortable margin of four goals deep into the final term before Paddy Cross kicked a couple of too late goals for a despondent Casey. A testament to their lack of pressure in the latter stages of the game was the fact that Footscray’s last ten scoring shots were nine goals and one rushed behind. Things might have been different for the Demons who went into the game after last week’s bye with 12 AFL listed players. Blake Howes was held over for the AFL game but two others, Jack Billings and Taj Woewodin (not officially listed as injured) were also missing and they could have been handy at the end. Another mystery of the current VFL system.

The Demons head back out on the road in Round 10 when they travel to Queensland to take on the reigning Premiers and the top of the table Lions who look very formidable. Can the Dees cause a massive upset? Who comes in and who goes out?

Wayward kicking for goal, dump kicks inside 50 and some baffling umpiring all contributed to the Dees not getting out to an an early lead that may have impacted the result. At the end of the day the Demons were just not good enough and let the Hawks run away with their first win against the Demons in 7 years.
