Who the hell are you to pontificate on who should/shouldn't be affected by someone's death, and how they should respond?

Not the only one it seems. Clubs/AFL getting serious on concussion, and not too soon.

Medical Insurance claims can be enormous. Clubs must tread carefully.

Good thing to

Given how well the team is going and how well the club is presenting itself I'm frankly astounded at the venom being directed to Lumumba.

Read through my posts earlier in the year and you will see I was not a fan of his, I saw him improving with the team but then he started getting his concussion issues. But ultimately that is totally beside the point. All you can take on this issue (unless you have inside knowledge) is what the club is presenting at face value and that's that his concussion related symptoms are ongoing.

Logically that means retirement must be on the cards. Whatever you feel towards him think about this: he got those concussions representing Melbourne.

Poor bastard. Hope his health picks up. Don't wish for anyone to possibly give up a career because of repeat concussions. Footy can be a  tough occupation.

definitely an eccentric character and seemingly well liked team-mate (despite all the noise). i hope he's ok. i am sure the football department will be on top of this, so i don't think there's much to be concerned about from MFC's perspective. it'll all play out in due time. hunt has his number now no doubt, can't really see him breaking back into the team again. but if he has a long holiday and good preseason, maybe he'll be full of vigour and drive next year - who knows?

  • PREVIEW: Essendon

Not long ago, the narrative surrounding Melbourne was steeped in pessimism. There was some concern among the pundits (and even some fans) that the club would arrive at the AFL’s Gather Round still winless, vulnerable to a familiar adversary in the Essendon Football Club, and facing significant scrutiny from an ever-critical media on a national stage. Things have changed.

  • REPORT: Gold Coast

Steven King astutely identified the issues that had plagued the Melbourne Football Club over the past two and a half seasons when he auditioned for the newly created coaching role. The side that had claimed the 2021 premiership had become stodgy, slow-paced, and hesitant to take the initiative.
