Who do you want

You're kidding if you want Day, he is a dud.

I reckon he'd be a good role player. Played his role on Hogan. I wouldn't say he smashed him, but was strong in the contest and held his own. He's a cheaper, younger option than Hurley, the latter of whom I would be happy with, but is overhyped.

And if we could get him for that, SONS, that'd be perfect.

We have a 'role' player in Frost, we don't need to get Day. I'd rather Nathan Brown from the Pies and I don't rate him much either.

Why would we go after a bloke who will be 28 when 2017 starts? Not to mention, Brown is ho-hum. Day has lots of improvement in him, with much more time on his side.

Gaff is an elite runner and has excellent disposal.

Need some good users on the outside.

Olivia Newton-John.

Day offers far more flexibility not to mention skill than either of the Brown boys.

I don't think he's worth half a million a year...but with the new CBA who knows - that might be chump change.

Who's Olivia Newton-John.

An unexceptional but effective key position defender and a ruck-relief/backup ruck are the only real gaps in our list at the moment. Touch wood on kids continuing their development and all that.

We have midfielders and flankers in abundance now. Quite the shock - I think there's a bit of cognitive dissonance going around.

If we could trade in the next Cam Pederson, or draft the next Marcus Adams, we'd be laughing.

Of course, by this time next year Weidemann could push Pederson out of the forward line, and O.M could be our missing 'true tall' defender. Leaving Pederson as the hardworking floating tall defender who also pinches in the ruck.

Can the weed backup ruck?

  • REPORT: Carlton

I am now certain that the decline in fortunes of the Melbourne Football Club from a premiership power with the potential for more success to come in the future, started when the team ran out for their Round 9 match up against Carlton last year. After knocking over the Cats in a fierce contest the week before, the Demons looked uninterested at the start of play and gave the Blues a six goal start. They recovered to almost snatch victory but lost narrowly with a score of 11.10.76 to 12.5.77. Yesterday, they revisited the scene and provided their fans with a similar display of ineptitude early in the proceedings. Their attitude at the start was poor, given that the game was so winnable. Unsurprisingly, the resulting score was almost identical to that of last year and for the fourth time in succession, the club has lost a game against Carlton despite having more scoring opportunities.

  • CASEY: Carlton

The Casey Demons smashed the Carlton Reserves off the park at Casey Fields on Sunday to retain a hold on an end of season wild card place. It was a comprehensive 108 point victory in which the home side was dominant and several of its players stood out but, in spite of the positivity of such a display, we need to place an asterisk over the outcome which saw a net 100 point advantage to the combined scores in the two contests between Demons and Blues over the weekend.

  • POSTGAME: Carlton

A near full strength Demons were outplayed all night against a Blues outfit that was under the pump and missing at least 9 or 10 of the best players. Time for some hard decisions to be made across the board.
