There for an hour.  Salem, Oliver, Kent, Grimes seemed to be in a rehab group.  Garlett training separately with Crossy but being watched by a few others.  Kicking really well off of both feet.  Hard to believe how hard and low he kicks.  Much better than the easy floaters you see so often.  I don't understand why Kent & Tyson aren't told to practise kicking with their right foot.  It's such an obvious shortcoming in their game.  Pedo, Weed & Hulett (I think) were in a group practising goal kicking.  Great to see how competitive they are and how much pleasure they get from the others' misses.  Did not see Vandenberg.

Spencer, Petracca, Trengove all look fit.

No Vanders, no Oscar, no Mitch King. Spencer out there training which is good, getting towelled by Gawn though so don't expect much if we need him.

Matt Jones I only saw briefly before he left. Unsure if he did much more than walk laps.

Everyone else was there.

Lumumba, JKH and Joel Smith doing some handballing, the 4 mentioned above doing their lighter stuff and despite only doing kick to kick and some other stuff with Cross it looked like Jeffy was moving pretty well to me.

Good to see Spencer back out there.

At least he's got the best ruckman in the game to learn from.

Spencer is very limited as a ruckman but could be useful as a poor mans mumford.

Always seemed to have taken some angry pills but the difference he is not alone anymore.

For mine, this is why frost is important to our team.

What defender wouldn't "hear footsteps" under a high ball with frost, kent, hogan and harmes ready to clean them up

Would be handy if one of you guys were present for Vander's ankle op and could confirm he'll be out for 6-8.

??

Wellllll..... He hasn't had an operation and will be out for 3-4 weeks.... Just to clarify.

From the article you linked on the other thread:

"MIDFIELDER/forward Aaron vandenBerg will miss at least the next month, due to an ankle injury."

which often means about 8 weeks in Dave Misson-speak. Didn't say he had not had an op either.

Just to clarify.

"Demons high performance manager Dave Misson said the club had opted to give vandenBerg's ankle time to rest and heal."

Yes, it's all a conspiracy, they deliberately didn't mention an operation because he secretly had one, and Misson deliberately gives misleading information about injuries just to annoy supporters, not because, you know, injuries are complicated and it's difficult to put an exact time frame on someone's healing....

Oh, and from that same article....

"Aaron vandenBerg (ankle) – 3-4 weeks"

You know, just to clarify...

Yes, it was deliberate, he did it just to annoy you...

Ok, thanks for the report update jimcor and deespencer.

The remainder is not necessary guys. At the end of the day let's just deal with VB out for around a month. The silver lining is someone gets a gig in replacing him, and because of our depth due to who is playing at Casey, itching to get a game as well as recent debutants performing. VB will be missed but it's definitely not the end of the world as we have capable replacements ATM.

God speed in recovery VB, and hope he's not out for longer than a month.

    TRAINING: Monday 16th December 2024

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

    TRAINING: Wednesday 11th December 2024

A few new faces joined our veteran Demonland Trackwatchers on a beautiful morning out at Gosch's Paddock for another Preseason Training Session. BLWNBA'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I arrived at around 1015 and the squad was already out on the track. The rehab group consisted of XL, McAdam, Melksham, Spargo and Sestan. Lever was also on restricted duties and appeared to be in runners.  The main group was doing end-to-end transition work in a simulated match situation. Ball mov

Some veteran Demonland Trackwatchers ventured down to Gosch's Paddock to bring you the following observations from another Preseason Training Session. WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. Windsor's run won't be lost playing off half back. In 19 games in 2024 he kicked 8 goals as a winger. I see him getting shots at g

A couple of intrepid Demonland Trackwatchers headed down to Gosch's Paddock for the midweek Preseason Training Session to bring you the following observations. Demonland's own Whispering Jack was not in attendance but he kicked off proceedings with the following summary of all the Preseason Training action to date. We’re already a month into the MFC preseason (if you started counting when the younger players in the group began the campaign along with some of the more keen older heads)

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
