The players that are still with us that were at the club in 2011, the year of the 186 loss to Geelong, may be scarred beyond repair.

IMHO only 5 or 6 of this list deserve to still be with us.

How many of these are scarred beyond repair, to the point that they repeatedly go into "self-preservation-mode" when we need them most?

It's not only the Demons who have given up good leads. The examples this year are a'plenty. This round Brisbane gave up a 5 goal lead to St Kilda, the E Coli Wobblers gave North a huge start, I recall Essendon giving up a huge lead at the beginning of the year to the Swans.

It seems to be a feature of the contemporary game: teams start with a bang and then get blown away when the smoke clears. How often do you read, Such and such has scored 9 of the past 11 goals etc etc?

My humble view on these:

Grimes - physical vs mental?

Garland - seems ok

Gawn - too raw to have been scarred

Howe - maybe

Jetta - clearly has got over it and moved on

Jarmar - now just running out of steam after a reasonable career

Spencer - not tainted, just slowly developing

Bail - tainted, on just NQR?

Fitzpatrick - see Spencer

T. McDonald - clearly either over it or not tainted

Rising Star coming our way as well tonight.

Very dissapointing - but also it's a nod to the state of the modern game in my opinion. Momentum is a massive thing and probably most obvious in AFL. Teams are regularly pulling back all sorts of leads nowadays.

We need to be fitter and better for longer.

Was thinking the same thing dieter. The elusive 'momentum' factor seems to be bigger this year than ever. It's very odd, and defies explanation to a large degree. Collective psychology maybe? If someone told me that it was due to a team's legal stimulants (eg caffeine) kicking in en masse, I wouldn't laugh like I might have previously. Weird!
