Changes for Next Week

Roosy and co must have massive raps on Billy to debut him against Sydney, one of the toughest and biggest bodied teams in the AFL

Clearly the club is getting behind the idea of rewarding good form at Casey, and if the seniors aren't playing well then you're dropped. Absolutely love it.

Stretch will get the vest but it's terrific to see him get a run so early in the season. Good luck to the kid!

No guarantee that Stretch will get the vest - could easily be Toump.

BANG!!

Loving the changes.. except im gobsmacked Grimes is out after one game yet Watts is still in..

If and when he's finally dropped, well he's had his chances.

Glad Spencer is given a go. His form at Casey has been really strong. I really hope he has a break out game keeps his spot in the side.

He was named on the wing, pretty sure the sub has to come from the 4 man bench

I hope he starts on the ground

I think every first gamer under the Roos regime has been given the vest. Plus Toumpas has been named in the starting 18 which generally means they won't get the vest.

Not that I'll complain either way, just think Roos will stick to his guns.

On the MFC website he's listed on the bench, so Wiseblood is probably correct in saying that he'll be the sub.

Viv Michie a bit unlucky to be dropped.

Doesn't tackle. Basic standards from Roos.

I recall this was a bit of a knock on him from last year.

  • REPORT: Western Bulldogs

The next coach of the Melbourne Football Club faces the challenge of teaching his players how to win games against all comers. At times during this tumultuous season, that task has seemed daunting, made more so in light of the surprise news last week of the sacking of premiership coach Simon Goodwin. However, there were also some positive signs from yesterday’s match against the Western Bulldogs that the challenge may not be as difficult as one might think. The two sides presented a genuine football spectacle, featuring pulsating competitive play with eight lead changes throughout the afternoon, in a display befitting a finals match. The result could have gone either way and in the end, it came down to which team could produce the most desperate of acts to provide a winning result. It was the Bulldogs who had their season on the line that won out by a six point margin that fitted the game and the effort of both sides.

  • CASEY: Brisbane

The rain had been falling heavily in south east Queensland when the match began at Springfield, west of Brisbane. The teams exchanged early goals and then the Casey Demons proceeded like a house on fire in the penultimate game of the VFL season against a strong opponent in the Brisbane Lions. Sparked by strong play around the ground by seasoned players in Charlie Spargo and Jack Billings, a strong effort from Bailey Laurie and promising work from youngsters in Kynan Brown and  Koltyn Tholstrup, the Demons with multiple goal kickers firing, raced to a 27 point lead late in the opening stanza. A highlight was a wonderful goal from Laurie who brilliantly sidestepped two opponents and kicked beautifully from 45 metres out.
