Nev Jetta

You don't muck around with concussion. Hope they take a conservative approach. 2 weeks is fine Grimes can come in for him & show us what he's got.

I noticed Roosy on radio yesterday, after the game said, the player recently had a number of head knocks. I found later he was referring to Jetta, to my surprise.

Has Grimes been dominating at Casey?

USD $1,000,000,000 for concussions in the NFL, this injury has been the elephant in the room for a while in AFL and I am totally happy for him to get over it properly. Was happy when Roos said straight out, he didn't pass the test, he's out.

Part of us improving is dealing with injuries, I realized for awhile I've been hoping for everything to align, the perfect team list, the perfect pre season, the perfect coach, the prefect draw, so we might squeak some wins....

Now I realize being hard at the contest as a team makes up for all of those things being NQR. I bloody loved the Richmond game.

a basic team that is hard at the contest, is the basis for an entertaining team & club. a foundation to build a culture, & to grow off of.

this is why I always liked Nev Jettas game, even without frills, he was one of the most honest players we've had over the last ten years; & we had a lot of front runners, & a lot of fancy dancers.

Howe was heading down the fancy this stakes.. lucky Roosy got to him hopefully in time.

Front running teams fold like a deckchair under constant team pressure, just like we used to do in the 2000 - 2012 era, when playing the better teams. and come to think of it, in the 90's as well but we had more talent.

AFL wanted in on the NFL research program. NFL told them to take a hike. Not really a classy move by the NFL, although I can understand it since the AFL would be chipping in such a relatively small amount to get access to their vast body of research and information. I just think it would have been a better look for them to say they welcome input and participation from any sporting organisation to reduce brain injuries across the board and not just in their own area.

Agreed. How does it benefit the NFL in any way to exclude other sporting codes?

because there is stuff they'd prefer to stay buried

  • REPORT: Western Bulldogs

The next coach of the Melbourne Football Club faces the challenge of teaching his players how to win games against all comers. At times during this tumultuous season, that task has seemed daunting, made more so in light of the surprise news last week of the sacking of premiership coach Simon Goodwin. However, there were also some positive signs from yesterday’s match against the Western Bulldogs that the challenge may not be as difficult as one might think. The two sides presented a genuine football spectacle, featuring pulsating competitive play with eight lead changes throughout the afternoon, in a display befitting a finals match. The result could have gone either way and in the end, it came down to which team could produce the most desperate of acts to provide a winning result. It was the Bulldogs who had their season on the line that won out by a six point margin that fitted the game and the effort of both sides.

  • CASEY: Brisbane

The rain had been falling heavily in south east Queensland when the match began at Springfield, west of Brisbane. The teams exchanged early goals and then the Casey Demons proceeded like a house on fire in the penultimate game of the VFL season against a strong opponent in the Brisbane Lions. Sparked by strong play around the ground by seasoned players in Charlie Spargo and Jack Billings, a strong effort from Bailey Laurie and promising work from youngsters in Kynan Brown and  Koltyn Tholstrup, the Demons with multiple goal kickers firing, raced to a 27 point lead late in the opening stanza. A highlight was a wonderful goal from Laurie who brilliantly sidestepped two opponents and kicked beautifully from 45 metres out.

The Demons lacked some polish but showed a lot of heart and took it right up to the Bulldogs in an attempt to spoil their finals hopes ultimately going down by a goal at the MCG.
