THANKS FROM DEMONLAND

Thanks all! Hard to believe I've been a member of Demonland for over a third of my life. This site means as much to me as it does all of you, that's why I continue to help, though the amount of time that has taken up lately has been negligible. It pales in comparison to the amount of time I've spent refreshing the Dangerfield thread :)

LDvC - yup, four kids, they're 8, 6, 4 and 2 and have never seen the MFC be anything other than rubbish. My 4 year old is the only one I've successfully brainwashed to date.

OK, so Nasher's just turned 31 (Happy birthday, by the way). Haven't I read somewhere else he's got four kids? Fair effort.

31 for Nasher aye? Being the spritely, cocky, young bull i am at the ripe old age of 28 i can therefore say; thanks for all the work you do around here Nasher you old bastard.

Can we call ourselves young bulls at 28? Hooray. I feel so much less old now.

I'm 29.

Over the hill?

Jaded, I appreciate you probably don't want to be described as an "old cow"...but science dictates you can't be either a young or an old bull, either.

Practically dead.

Plus I only have 2 kids. Nasher has 4.

So not only am I dead, I am half the man Nasher is.

I'm over 28 by nearly a decade but I have no kids other than fur kids so I'm pretty much like a 21 year old!!!!

Over the hill?

Very much so.

Owing to your age, Demonland is only offering you a one-year contract to continue posting on this site.

There are bonuses built in for humorous or insightful posts, and there's an option for an additional year if you meet KPIs, but this is basically the beginning of the end.

The good news for you is that under FFFA (Fan Forum Free Agency) rules, you can join up at any other club site of your choosing, giving you the opportunity to post about teams more successful than the Demons.

Beyond that, Big Footy and Facebook beckons...

It would be easier to retire from Demonland and get a job on the Channel 7 commentary team I imagine.

I present Exhibit A: could you do better than this man?

Say that again?

He's an intellectual giant compared to BT, who once said the ball was in the triangle quadrant of the ground..

Luke Darcy commentary:

“The lights are coming on, it is getting a bit overcast”

It was a twilight match and the sun was going down.

So the lights were on, but there was no-one at home? :)

Luke Darcy - doesn't know what time of day it is.

BT - doesn't know what century this is.

Tough to split them.

  • REPORT: Western Bulldogs

The next coach of the Melbourne Football Club faces the challenge of teaching his players how to win games against all comers. At times during this tumultuous season, that task has seemed daunting, made more so in light of the surprise news last week of the sacking of premiership coach Simon Goodwin. However, there were also some positive signs from yesterday’s match against the Western Bulldogs that the challenge may not be as difficult as one might think. The two sides presented a genuine football spectacle, featuring pulsating competitive play with eight lead changes throughout the afternoon, in a display befitting a finals match. The result could have gone either way and in the end, it came down to which team could produce the most desperate of acts to provide a winning result. It was the Bulldogs who had their season on the line that won out by a six point margin that fitted the game and the effort of both sides.

  • CASEY: Brisbane

The rain had been falling heavily in south east Queensland when the match began at Springfield, west of Brisbane. The teams exchanged early goals and then the Casey Demons proceeded like a house on fire in the penultimate game of the VFL season against a strong opponent in the Brisbane Lions. Sparked by strong play around the ground by seasoned players in Charlie Spargo and Jack Billings, a strong effort from Bailey Laurie and promising work from youngsters in Kynan Brown and  Koltyn Tholstrup, the Demons with multiple goal kickers firing, raced to a 27 point lead late in the opening stanza. A highlight was a wonderful goal from Laurie who brilliantly sidestepped two opponents and kicked beautifully from 45 metres out.
