Patrick Dangerfield

Featured Replies

Not to mention that he breaks games apart. This is definitely a player we need. May rub off on others?

2 and 3 are way overs for Danger. He is a game breaker yes.. but he is 25 years old who isn't exactly got a fully fit body atm. We will be lucky to get 5 years out of him.

Either save one pick for a Brayshaw/Petracca Deal with GWS for a Shiel or Trelor. These guys atleast will be 10 year players.

If pick 2 and 3 go to Danger I will be very annoyed.

By my calculation, Dangerfield has missed 6 games in the last 6 years. The least number of games he's played in that time is 19, and he's played every game 3 out of 6 years, including this year. That hardly seems like a broken down, dilapidated old body.

He's 24 years old and flying in every sense. If you reckon a bloke who's hardly missed a game since he started is showing signs of being a broken down old has-been by the time he's 29, you've got a very different take on things to me.

It's a vicious cycle.

Very vicious...

Unlike our midfield which has been pretty viscous, not vicious :-(

Pays to do 15 seconds of research sometimes...

Can't believe people wouldn't do this deal if it's 2+3 for danger and adelaides pick I couldn't sign fast enough he is a star, let's be honest we haven't had a good run with early picks so to get a proven star yes please

Dangerfield for Pick 2 & 3 doesn't smell like a Paul Roos kind of deal to me.

Don't disregard Roos' agenda here - his ego wants to be the guy that saved Melbourne. It hasn't worked so well just yet. He knows a big move like this could see us in the finals next year, and his mission complete. Some coaches go for the big player steal to 'top up' for a premiership.. for us it is making finals. What does Roos care about pick 2+3 he will be long gone before they are of any use.

What?

I'd give a lot to get Dangerfield at the club but not picks 2 & 3. Pick 2 and a player (Toump) and maybe a swapping of later picks will hopefully be enough. I'd love to take pick 3 into the draft and take Brayshaw.

It is absolutely ridiculous to say that Roos is only concerned about things that will affect the club while he is coach. Roos was brought in to drive culture change and build an environment capable of producing sustained success. That's the whole premise of the succession plan - and Roos was never going to be around for said success. Paying overs for a superstar simply to make himself look better is the antithesis of everything Paul Roos stands for.

We haven't had a good run with early picks until PRoos on the scene. He and the club won't do that deal, but they will try to do their best with one of our early picks for him. I still see 3 (if we get it) plus Toumpas and Trengove for Danger plus later pick

Totally agree VG

In other words: forget the trade that is looking viable, and go after one you have no hope of pulling off.

I think people forget that in most cases you still have to trade for a player. Throwing money at them doesn't mean much if their club isn't willing to trade them.

please tell me were the danger trade is viable other then rumour on demonland

I tend to agree.

Crows will be willing to trade, its just what we would need to give. Its the whole new FA world. Trade before you lose for nix

Viable? Are you trying to spoil our fun?

Every club website is thinking there getting danger the hardest thing for Melbourne is convincing danger we're going to change as a club after 8 years of rot

If, and it's a big if, we were actually in the running for Danger and the Crows wanted two first rounders - I could see us doing a Tyson type trade where Pick 3 becomes, for example, Pick 9-10-11 with a player of value also coming back our way. Then we trade Pick 2 and, say, Pick 10 for Dangerfield while also still having netted another good young player from the earlier trade. I'd be more comfortable with that.

Yeah, Dangerfield for picks 2 & 3 worries me. Dangerfield and pick 10 for picks 2 & 3 doesn't. We get a chance to bring in two guys, for two picks, one of them is a game breaking A grader, the likes we haven't seen since Lyon or even Flower.

If when it's all said and done we shifted 2,3, toumpas/trengove for danger and shiel...I'd be over the moon. 1st trade: get player and pick, 2nd trade: move the pick with the other stuff

It's dreaming, but if we could somehow convince Shiel to join on an overinflated long term contract for a trade of pick 10 received in an Adelaide trade, we'd be laughing. And we'd have a midfield all of a sudden.

Would prefer Danger plus pick 10 for our pick 3 (hopefully) plus pick 20ish (pp compo) and J toumpas

For Christmas sake boys It aint gunna happen, get over it, Dangerfield will not be coming to Melbourne!! You guys are in "Fantasy" Land!

Stop torturing yourselves!!

And unless Trengove is somehow involved in the trade, he should be injured less. ;)

Demonlanders are getting too precious about these top picks. It's one of the reasons I never got attached to any of this year's U18's crop. I thought there was a good chance we'd be trading whatever top picks we received. I would if I was on the MFC recruiting team and I have an idea Roos would too.

I suppose, but at least there's some basis of plausibility with the fact that Dangerfield is a FA next year, so Adelaide's hands could be somewhat forced. There's absolutely no way in hell Sydney will let Parker go or be amenable to a trade. They'll tell us to get stuffed.

A near full strength Demons were outplayed all night against a Blues outfit that was under the pump and missing at least 9 or 10 of the best players. Time for some hard decisions to be made across the board.

  • PREVIEW: Carlton

Good evening, Demon fans and welcome back to the Demonland Podcast ... it’s time to discuss this week’s game against the Blues. Will the Demons celebrate Clayton Oliver’s 200th game with a victory? We have a number of callers waiting on line … Leopold Bloom: Carlton and Melbourne are both out of finals contention with six wins and eleven losses, and are undoubtedly the two most underwhelming and disappointing teams of 2025. Both had high expectations at the start of participating and advancing deep into the finals, but instead, they have consistently underperformed and disappointed themselves and their supporters throughout the year. However, I am inclined to give the Demons the benefit of the doubt, as they have made some progress in addressing their issues after a disastrous start. In contrast, the Blues are struggling across the board and do not appear to be making any notable improvements. They are regressing, and a significant loss is looming on Saturday night. Max Gawn in the ruck will be huge and the Demon midfield have a point to prove after lowering their colours in so many close calls.
