Paul Roos' observations

I dont see us chasing a player like Fyfe, more develop from within and gain Tyson like deals

Chasing Mundy wouldn't surprise me though

I'd go after Rockliff again. We'll probably have pick 3 to offer and after the year they're having he may request a trade - if we offer him enough.

That'd be like Jones requesting a trade because we were rubbish. He's their Vice captain and extended a few months ago until 2017.

Rivers...Moloney....being the VC doesn't mean much.

Mundy will be 29 next year, just doesn't make sense to go after him imo. We should go hard to trade for Fyfe this year. When that fails we should be looking at Dangerfield who's a free agent next year. Probably not much chance with either but while we have Roos & Jackson at the club we should be having a go.

if i was a betting man ....id be thinking players around 25-27

Once again, let's all remember that it wasn't Tyson & Salem JUST for Kelly. It was for Kelly and pick 20 and it certainly appears that there has been some very good players available at Pick 20.

Let's just wait and see.

OK BB. Make it easy for us morons.. Go through the club lists of 25 - 27yo mid fielders that you think can help us.

No pressure but If anyone can, you can.

Being contracted for the next 3 years does though.

I think if we can win 8 games or more, we'll be a very attractive proposition for season 2015. That'd help us lure that next tier of quality players. Last off season, Roos' mere standing in the game landed us Vince. An aging, but very good B grade mid. With everything behind us this year, we should be able to target A graders and they'll seriously consider a move to Melbourne.

  • REPORT: West Coast

On a night of counting, Melbourne captain Max Gawn made sure that his contribution counted. He was at his best and superb in the the ruck from the very start of the election night game against the West Coast Eagles at Optus Stadium, but after watching his dominance of the first quarter and a half of the clash evaporate into nothing as the Eagles booted four goals in the last ten minutes of the opening half, he turned the game on its head, with a ruckman’s masterclass in the second half.  No superlatives would be sufficient to describe the enormity of the skipper’s performance starting with his 47 hit outs, a career-high 35 possessions (22 of them contested), nine clearances, 12 score involvements and, after messing up an attempt or two, finally capping off one of the greatest rucking performances of all time, with a goal of own in the final quarter not long after he delivered a right angled pass into the arms of Daniel Turner who also goaled from a pocket (will we ever know if the pass is what was intended). That was enough to overturn a 12 point deficit after the Eagles scored the first goal of the second half into a 29 point lead at the last break and a winning final quarter (at last) for the Demons who decided not to rest their champion ruckman at the end this time around.

  • POSTGAME: West Coast

Following a disastrous 0–5 start to the season, the Demons have now made it three wins in a row, cruising past a lacklustre West Coast side on their own turf. Skipper Max Gawn was once again at his dominant best, delivering another ruck masterclass to lead the way.
