Ultimate Footy 2014 - Norm Smith League

Jarka - I have a good mate I can vouch for who would be an ideal replacement for any vacant team in our great comp! He is a member of Demonland , his user name is " I Luv Tingay". Place him on the waiting list as he is super keen & lives and breaths his fantasy sport.

OMR, he sounds like he'd be a worthy adversary, 'I Luv Tingay' is first in line.

Been playing the Robbie Flower League but I'm not sure there's any action there. Love to join in if there's a spot.

The state of play right now is that 10 have signed up, two have pulled out but two have asked to join, so that gives us 12 so far. We're waiting on DL7, Robbo, SnomeD and Stinga, I'll send pm's and we'll give them a couple of days before throwing out more invites.

If you'd like to join please let me know and I'll add you onto the waiting list

I want to get the league finalised asap so we can start to work on the draft date, at this stage it is going to be a Monday night, starting at 7:00pm, plan to go with the same format, 1 minute per selection. Speak now if this is going to be a problem

Once assigned a team - any newbies - select 2 players you wish to keep, and two players born in 1992 or later. You will understand once Jarka has assigned you a team.

Thanks Jarka- the Galahs are in.

Hey Jarka, I'm DL7, last year I was disappointing, I just can't put enough time like I should so please open up my spot. That said I've had so much fun playing this and thanks to all the guys for the banter along the way!

Hi guys, I was in the Robbie Flower league (like GM11) last two years, would love to play as well. I'm pretty good though, just warning you!! ;)

Hey Jarka - can you have a UF league with ~10 players?

In Super Coach they force you to have 18 players and if you league hits the cut off with fewer than that it will put randoms in there...

I can't find a definitive answer on the UF website other than it is very customisable.

Ok, answered my own question - you can have between 4 and 18 players...

Who the hell would have a league with 4 players?

Anyway, it is a way better setup than SC.

Hi all, this is I Luv Tingay. Thanks to OMR for talking me up for the UF Comp.... I promise I wont disappoint. I look forward to a great year in fantasy land and getting my team together. Good luck all.

Agreed RPFC, it's much better that SC, I really like the versatility of it. 12 would be an ideal number but I think 16 also works well.

Thanks Arrow, thanks for letting us know, pity you can't continue mate.

That means Brunoc is in and now we're just waiting on s-t-i-n-g-a.

Once we've settled on the playing list I'll assign teams to the new guys and then we can set our keepers. To the new guys I'll expalin this later. We also have to decide the final two spots of the draft order but I may just flip a coin.

I was in Robbie Flower League, i want to find out if I can join this league if there are any spots left

Hi 7-up, we may have one spot free, we're just waiting for one more person to commit. You're first in line though.

Cheers

Team, I've enlisted again but can't be convinced that I can give it 100% and, not being very good to begin with, I think my spot would better serve someone hoping to join - they'd probably do a better job.

You're not playing for your country!

Just a bit of fun...

That's if it is fun...

Gee wiz, I will have to give him a great induction.

It looks like s-t-i-n-g-a hasn't logged onto demonland since last November, he's the last one we're waiting on. I've sent a pm and we'll give him a bit longer to come back

  • REPORT: West Coast

On a night of counting, Melbourne captain Max Gawn made sure that his contribution counted. He was at his best and superb in the the ruck from the very start of the election night game against the West Coast Eagles at Optus Stadium, but after watching his dominance of the first quarter and a half of the clash evaporate into nothing as the Eagles booted four goals in the last ten minutes of the opening half, he turned the game on its head, with a ruckman’s masterclass in the second half.  No superlatives would be sufficient to describe the enormity of the skipper’s performance starting with his 47 hit outs, a career-high 35 possessions (22 of them contested), nine clearances, 12 score involvements and, after messing up an attempt or two, finally capping off one of the greatest rucking performances of all time, with a goal of own in the final quarter not long after he delivered a right angled pass into the arms of Daniel Turner who also goaled from a pocket (will we ever know if the pass is what was intended). That was enough to overturn a 12 point deficit after the Eagles scored the first goal of the second half into a 29 point lead at the last break and a winning final quarter (at last) for the Demons who decided not to rest their champion ruckman at the end this time around.

  • POSTGAME: West Coast

Following a disastrous 0–5 start to the season, the Demons have now made it three wins in a row, cruising past a lacklustre West Coast side on their own turf. Skipper Max Gawn was once again at his dominant best, delivering another ruck masterclass to lead the way.
