Terrible thread. Quite offensive to teetotallers.

Absolutely, there is nothing more refreshing on a hot day than mineral water and orange juice, or if not available a soda lime and bitters.

Alas Robbie ,it appears unlikely that we will ever "party" together.

Lay off the Bitters is my friendly warning.

it is an unpalatable thing at the best of times.

Have you ever consumed tea BBO?

Teah Maria?

Long Island Ice Tea?

So, the Gonzo part derives from a love of all things Hunter S Thompson and the requisite excesses? I was never a fan of smoking dope as I found it too antisocial for my tastes and so took the what was then referred to as, the juice freak route. LSD, mescaline (synthetic), psilocybin etc were all dabbled in, but still nothing could quite equal the alcohol in appealing to my extrovert nature. These days I indulge very little in anything, but still do enjoy the very occasional drinks session.

Yeah Thompson would probably be my favourite writer, for his politics and sport as much as his "freak power" type stuff.

Alcohol is my main thing these days due to ease of access and ability to relax with a drink or two and not go totally off my head however I can't really say I'm a huge fan of the stuff. I don't mind being tipsy but have grown more and more to hate the feeling of being "drunk" so will generally stop myself before I get there.

I think most drugs can have a usefulness but it's all about the circumstances. I wouldn't want to go tripping at a footy game and would prefer to sink a couple of beers or scotches. By the same token I'd rather smoke weed if going to a concert or perhaps a movie but if I was hanging out with a small group of friends or at a music festival I'd rather take acid or something like that.

Sacrilege!!!!

What about my bottle of Irish Honey then?

For my Birthday my GF organised a beer brewing session down at Ubrewit in Huntingdale. Was a really fun day, with heaps of different recipes to choose from, with some snags on the barbie and the cricket on TV. Ultimate man-shed ;)

Anyway, i brewed a Golden Ale and went back in the second week of Jan to bottle them and have to say i'm really happy with how they came out. There's something about sitting back and enjoying a beer on a nice warm evening knowing you actually made it.... Would definitely recommend it to anyone who's into beer (or cider as you can brew that too)

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Essendon

It’s Pink Lady night at Princes Park — a vibey Friday evening setting for a high-stakes clash between second-placed Melbourne and eleventh-placed Essendon. The wind-sheltered IKON Park, a favourite ground of the Demon players, promises flair, fire and a touch of pink. Melbourne has never lost a home-and-away game here, though the ghosts of two straight-sets finals exits in 2023 still linger.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: # 1 Steven May

The premiership defender has shown signs of wear and tear due to age, and his 2025 season was inconsistent, ending poorly with a suspension and a noticeable decline in performance. The Demons are eager to integrate younger players onto their list and have indicated that they may not be able to guarantee him senior games next season, in what would be the final year of his contract.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: # 2 Jacob van Rooyen

The young key tall failed to make progress during the season, with a decline in his goal kicking output. His secondary role as a backup ruckman, which may have hindered his ability to further develop his game, and he was also impacted by the team's poor forward connection. It will be interesting to observe his performance under a new coaching regime.
