Did you cringe?

Featured Replies

I understand that it may make some cringe but it's marketing. Hogan & Roos (and maybe Howe taking a grab) are among the best images they can present to get people to sign up for next year.

What makes me cringe, is trolls like ben and c&beer always have to find something to be negative about and saying it amateur hour is just disrespectfull, I suspect that you two are amateurs.,

What makes me cringe is when the admin of this club defend itself and advertise the club with the prostituting of draft picks and teenagers to a impatient fan base.

I am ok with one fifth of a promo being a boy yet to play a game but don't sell me hope on the back of kids making their way, it's a burden they shouldn't carry and we have long been misled with.

Sadly there has been nothing else to sell for the last six years rpfc.

This shows the low depth the club has been in for a decade.

If you don't talk about the youth what do you talk about?

I would seriously like to know?

You shut up.

Sorry to be blunt, but you don't advertise what you can't sell.

And 'Jack Watts and the MFC' sounds like a Disney cartoon, and it felt just as ridiculous.

Any good Ad man will tell you that when you've got nothing to sell you can still sell hope. Having said that the relationship the MFC is developing with Hogan comes across as very needy and desperate. Lets give the kid some space and let him find his feet in the game before we drive him away.

What makes me cringe.. this whole thread.

Firstly id counter that there is nothing cringeworthy in Hogan being in a piece of digital imagery designed to promote the club. Why would there be ? Seriously...whats this cringe about ? He's a bright upcoming talent whos already dispelled the myth and actually shown he has something ( unlike some others ) He represents a future direction of the club. So again...whats the cringe ?

we've just spent 7 years pillaging the draft and talking up youngsters and it all amounted to dismal failure. Has the club learnt nothing? Why can't we have a little dignity and just keep these kids under our hat and let them develop naturally like most clubs do. Instead we give them Barassi's number, make them co-captains, and use them as marketing tools before they have done anything worthy of the fanfare. it is the epitome of the loser's mentality that has got us where we are today.

C and B hes not being touted as a/the saviour, just a good honest up and comer. Hes being presented as someone to watch,a talent whos exciting ..thats about it.

Hes not trotted out on his own...in fact he was right at the back of that image, As such , wheres the problem ?.I just dont see it.

well I've just said it in the previous post. Our history of betting the farm on young talent has been a disaster. It symbolises our ineptitude as a club and i wish we would stop doing it.

But we arent. If he had been all but the face of some 14 campaign I could understand your angst but he isnt. hes just a bit player in it all. And why wouldnt you use him.He does represent something and thats hope .Thats probably more tangible than a lot of qualities a marketing dept could lay their hands on.

yeah we stuffed up with the TS and Trengove double pointed ads etc. Went way overboard with Watts, but here i actually think we're being quite tempered with it.

  • NON-MFC: 2026 Opening Round

Finally the 2026 AFL Premiership Season is upon us. While Melbourne sits out Opening Round, there is still plenty of footy to enjoy with five non-MFC clashes to kick off the new season. It all begins on Thursday night with a blockbuster at the SCG as Sydney hosts Carlton in what should be a strong early test for both sides. On Friday night, Gold Coast gets its chance to open the season in front of a home crowd when the Suns and Christian Petracca take on Geelong at People First Stadium. Saturday features a double-header, starting in the afternoon with Greater Western Sydney and Clayton Oliver meeting the Hawks at Engie Stadium. That is followed on Saturday night by Brisbane Lions hosting the Western Bulldogs at the Gabba, with the Lions embarking on their campaign to win the Threepeat. Opening Round wraps up on Sunday night at the MCG, where St Kilda takes on Collingwood in the only game in town in the first week of the season. There is no shortage of storylines across the round, so discuss all the action from the non-MFC games of Opening Round.
