Great draft tonight Lads - For the third year in a row totally enjoyed the experiance

There is some nice looking squads been built tonight, however its impossible to make predictions on who has done the best.

Good looking squads on paper quite often fail to deliver when the ball actually gets bounced.

Note to Stinga - Hang on to your forwards champ, Your going to need everyone you can get in round one when you crash head first into my boy's. :)

Cheers OMR...the boys started pre season immediately after the draft in preparation for the clash. It's only a couple of hours in but they are all training the house down and have said it is their best pre season ever. I hope your boys come ready to play!

I got Armstrong and Lucas late so I am happy.

Have gone for a 'WGAF about a ruckman' plan.

Will it work? You'll just have to...No, it will not.

But fun anyways.

The reduction in value of ruckmen from 3 points to 2 will work in your favour.

That said, I went for three of them and am prepared to put Trent West on the table.

not too upset with my draft,

have a few too many tip rats for my fancy, but i have a few dual position players which should help.

took a bit of a gamble, went pretty hard for score and kicks, and then hopefully i can steal one of tackles or marks and that is the winning formula!

although as my first few picks of the draft were done through my rankings, i tried to guess who people would take! was very annoyed once i got to my computer and 2-3 times i had a player locked in and then they got picked up! Lewis Jetta was the one that annoyed me the most :| haha

M_M Lineup for 2013:

BACKS:

M. Golby

A. Carrazzo (B,C)

H. Shaw

M. Hurley (B,F)

L. McPharlin

Centres:

Josh Kennedy

Matt Rosa

Chris Masten

Ryan Bastinac

Daniel Kerr

Nathan Foley

Clinton Young

Luke Parker

Dale Thomas (C,F)

Hayden Ballantyne (C, F)

Forwards:

Lance Franklin

Stephen Milne

Josh Hill

Rucks:

Josh Jenkins (R,F)

Dan Currie

Went heavy on the mids, hopefully the dual position players can mean i will be able to chop and change my side alot, very short in ruck stocks, but hopefully jenkins can play 20 odd games this year solidly and i wont have to worry about it!

who ever i will be playing will definitely win the hit outs category thats for sure!

Nice list MM. Perhaps short on absolute blue chip mids outside of Kennedy, but a team with a nice look about it overall.

For coaches bereft of ruckmen, there are still some nuggets to be found that went unselected - Spencer, Longer and a couple of others I can't remember. Sometimes it is these unheralded guys who can burst onto the scene during the season.

Stinga has got Judd on the table looking for a back.

Sorry I can't get into the site till later, but I don't need Centres - I have Armitage, Danger Mouse, OKeefe, Ziebell, Lewis Jetta (F), Lucas, and Wines (and Toumpas).

But a forward can net a centre if anyone is keen...

Armitage, Ziebell, maybe OKeefe or Jetta...

And my backs are Goddard, Hartlett, and Mzungu so unless Armstrong or Nicholson go nuts - I am not looking to trade one of them...

Riewoldt (Nick), Garlett (the Carlton one), and LeCras better kick some goals. Although a number of my centres can kick goals I reckon.

Missed first 5 rounds of the draft and it's brutalised me. My own fault but I got some late picks that I'm happy with. Here's to winning Kicks Marks and Handballs!

My side ...

Mids - J.Selwood, R.Griffen, Hayes, Gaff, Swallow, Shiel

Forwards - Cloke, Schulz, A.Walker (C/F), Hansen, Dalhaus (C/F), M.Walters

Rucks - Jamar, Bellchambers, T.West

Backs - Lake, Burgoyne (B/C), Ibbotson, Ray (B/C), Atley

Mids, forwards and rucks I can't complain but I left my run for decent backmen a bit late. Would consider offers for A.Walker, L.Hansen or T.West that will net me an upgrade on one of my backmen.

Edited by Range Rover

HT's Hurricanes:

Backs: Reilly (B,C), Murphy (B,F), Johncock (B,F), Frawley, D.Grimes

MIDS: Boyd, Dal Santo, Sidebottom, Greene, Cassisi, Kent

Rucks: Kreuzer, Naitanui (R,F)

Fwds: Bartel (C,F), Breust, Podsiadly, Wilkes, Porplyzia, Alwyn Davey, Bolton (C,F)

Overall I thought I could have done better with my forwards selection (missed Tippett, Clark, J.Brown & even Cloke early - but that was more a pipedream snagging him given the draft position - by getting Boyd at 2) and I too left my backs late. Very happy with the quality of my mids range and the flexibility of Murphy, Bartel and Johncock being able to play forward this year. I'm backing Porplyzia to get in a full year this time. My rucks I expect to play their best footy to date this season.

Think I can get some high scoring from the likes of Podsiadly, Breust and even Wilkes may surprise more than occassionally. Hoping to make decent scores up through my mids and a couple of the backs chiming in.

Consideration for early trade: Alwyn Davey. Will hear other offers.

Yeh my mids are not top quality, but i was trying to draft players who mainly kick and can hit the scoreboard, with the weighting of the categories, i tried a different approach to the draft as i felt that midfielders were not as important as a few good defenders and forwards. hopefully it works haha

your fwds look very dangerous, and you took lake one round before i had him pencilled in, which was annoying haha!

If there is an 'odds man' among us it would be interesting to see what the premiership 'tote' would look like for the 16 sides ...

Quite happy with the results. Probably a little short and could do with a second ruck.

I've got a lot of high quality defenders if anyone is short. I'm interested in a quality mid or a Forward/Ruck player

Defenders - Grimes (B/C), Duffield, D.Pearce, Hurn, Malceski, Colquhoun (B/C)

Mids - Redden, Thompson, Barlow, C.Smith, Vince, Crouch

Rucks - Jacobs

Forwards - Clarke, Lynch, Edwards (C/F), Elliot, Siposs , Wellingham (C/F), Beams (C/F)

Hey Robbo, I have little need for a backman and Dangerfield is going to be a top 10 player this year so Grimes just won't cut it.

Danger Mouse is going to be a tough sell...

No problemo.

Rpfc - West/Ray for Hartlett ... ticks all the right boxes.

Well my tick is the only one that matters...

No counter offer?

Don't have time at the minute to have a think about it.

(he says while typing on a forum...)

Thoroughly enjoyed the draft, had the normal wins with getting wanted players but also watched many times others taken just before my picks, Range Rover did it to me on about 4 occasions! H_T as well LOL

As for trades, if the offer came along for Ivan Maric I'd definitely consider it. Would have to be a quality mid or defender to get a deal over the line

Indeed it was a very hard draft. In particular trying to get a balance of good mids, forwards and backs along with a solid ruck pair.

You and a few others succeeded .JA ,Robbo & MM...are the very early favourites along with RR & OMR.

My team is just average but a great centreline,I think.

And more importantly ... how is your health JCB?

Backs : Sam Fisher, Enright, Guerra, Pedersen(B,F), Vlastuin(B,C)

Mids : Swan, K.Jack, Rich, Sylvia (C,F), James (Tackle Machine) Kelly, Joel Cory

Rucks : Goldstein, Pyke, Vickery (R,F)

Forwards : Darling, Patton, Howe, Crameri, Zorko (F,C) Didak (F,C)

Not to dissapointed with this collection, missed the super Power Forward however have several goal kicking Mids.

Grunt should not be an issue, some monster tackle machines among these boy's, a couple of X-Factor forwards,

Backs solid if not spectacular, Vlastuin could be anything, and Pedersens goals & hit outs should come in handy.

Looking forward to what should be another ripping season of Ultimate Footy in 2013

Early days however always keen to listen to any trade offers ^_^

  • REPORT: Carlton

I am now certain that the decline in fortunes of the Melbourne Football Club from a premiership power with the potential for more success to come in the future, started when the team ran out for their Round 9 match up against Carlton last year. After knocking over the Cats in a fierce contest the week before, the Demons looked uninterested at the start of play and gave the Blues a six goal start. They recovered to almost snatch victory but lost narrowly with a score of 11.10.76 to 12.5.77. Yesterday, they revisited the scene and provided their fans with a similar display of ineptitude early in the proceedings. Their attitude at the start was poor, given that the game was so winnable. Unsurprisingly, the resulting score was almost identical to that of last year and for the fourth time in succession, the club has lost a game against Carlton despite having more scoring opportunities.

  • CASEY: Carlton

The Casey Demons smashed the Carlton Reserves off the park at Casey Fields on Sunday to retain a hold on an end of season wild card place. It was a comprehensive 108 point victory in which the home side was dominant and several of its players stood out but, in spite of the positivity of such a display, we need to place an asterisk over the outcome which saw a net 100 point advantage to the combined scores in the two contests between Demons and Blues over the weekend.

  • POSTGAME: Carlton

A near full strength Demons were outplayed all night against a Blues outfit that was under the pump and missing at least 9 or 10 of the best players. Time for some hard decisions to be made across the board.
