I was often taken in the rooms in the 70's after matches, so i am sure i said Hello to Arthur as a wide eyed kid.

Thanks. Going into the rooms post match was quite surreal.

Great article from Martin Flanagan in the Age on Mr Wilkinson.

Here it is and written only as Martin Flanagan can - Farewell a friend for life

Football is about more than the politics and the million dollar footballers. As Flanagan reminds us, it's also made up of hundreds of thousands of people including the fans and the humble doorkeepers and bootstudders who all have a stake in the sport. I only wish that some of his colleagues understood that so we could appreciate more the roles of great people like Arthur and their contribution to the game.

Many is the time that Arthur ushered me into the post-match change rooms at the 'G' to sing 'The Grand Old Flag' and chat with my idols. I was a skinny kid, and we had good reason to sing, week after week, after week, and both verses. Those days are long gone, but the memories are indelible. Arthur is part of them.

Wonderful tribute by Flanagan.

'82-'86 Arthur used to allow myself and my 3 young boys into the rooms, not many wins in those years.

Not sure about here but his two sons post on 'ology under the names of Cosmo and two dogs.

Forget the haunting of Round 11 — we’ve got this. Melbourne returns to its inner-city fortress for its milestone 100th AFLW match, carrying a formidable 10–2 record at IKON Stadium. Brisbane’s record at the venue is more balanced: 4 wins, 4 losses and a draw.

  • DRAFT: The Next Generation

It was not long after the announcement that Melbourne's former number 1 draft pick Tom Scully was departing the club following 31 games and two relatively unremarkable seasons to join expansion team, the Greater Western Giants, on a six-year contract worth about $6 million, that a parody song based on Adele's hit "Someone Like You" surfaced on social media. The artist expressed lament over Scully's departure in song, culminating in the promise, "Never mind, we'll find someone like you," although I suspect that the undertone of bitterness in this version exceeded that of the original.
