The Western Bulldogs - Under the radar to the point of...

I'd be the opposite 'the master' I would love us to come out and have a win over a genuine finals aspirant. It would, no doubt be our best win of the year and give the faithful a bit of belief going into the pre-season.

Deal with the J Viney pick post season. I for one am still about the Dee's winning the last two games and finishing the year on a high.

The bulldogs remind me of us after we played in the finals for all those years.

I can see years of pain for them and hopefully our years are going to be over.

I would be so dirty if we won this week, went above the bulldogs only for them the nominate Viney and force us to use pick 4 on him..

Luckily I think Adelaide got the message against Brisbane and will be pretty ferocious this week. Considering we can barely beat GWS I'm not overly concerned.

But the bulldogs loss this year is up with the worst of our performances so far.

We would not be using pick 4 Master.... Dogs have a compensation pick too, so if we happen to win this week, and end up higher on the ladder than the dogs at the end of the season, I am fairly certain they get 3 and 4 we would get 5 and 6.

That being the case then it would be more likely that the dogs would nominate him, and then we would have to use pick 5.

However like Stinga I would prefer to see us win at the end of the season, and if it means we have to pay pick 5 for Viney.... it is what it is.

After the disaster of this season, i just want to ensure we get the best access to the best players in this years draft.

I'd rather forgo the short term meaningless jollies.

Since we are apparently the masters of manipulating our own results, all I ask for is a draw this weekend, with Brad Green kicking the match-tying goal after the siren.

While I am happy for the club to have the best possible shot at the draft, I really don't want to see the club lose at all. While this upcoming preseason will be very important, the culture that is being cultivated at the club now is critical. For as long as I can remember (probably up to 1996), Melbourne has always put the cart before the horse. It's the old 'Wait till next year then we will start performing' mentality that has us where we are now.

Working for a long time in education, I know that good habits cannot be turned on and off like a switch. They are an all the time thing and when it's thought that they can be done at will, they aren't done at all.

We can't live in the past forever but neither should we live in the future. This just causes us to ignore our 'right nows'.

You want us to tank you mean?

Winning would be sensational. I have hated Adelaide ever since we pantsed them in '98 only to see a quirk of the finals gift them the chance to go back to back.

And I would be rapt to go above the 'Dogs.

Viney can wait. Winning is all that counts.

I know were you are coming from RR

However some of us don't have an unlimited number of seasons left.

Believe me I could handle the occasional "meaningless jolly"

I used to be of similar thinking especially after Jordan McMahon game I was pretty happy about the spoils that would come way.

3 years on after some pretty bleak events, we're back to square one if not further behind that's why I'd rather see wins this time around.

Could be a case of once bitten, twice shy I guess...

That's fine.

Just don't come screaming to me when a far better Adelaide assaults us on the weekend and tell me we weren't trying.

Couch is trying. Spencer is trying. Dunn is trying.

Very trying...

No tank you. Just play our normal putrid gamestyle. We should safe with the loss.

Its not because of what we did to get the draft picks. Its what we did with those draft picks. In addition, the lack of quality leadership and senior players has also transcended this.

Too many posters cant differentiate that and are jumping at shadows.

What we've done with the draft picks since hasn't been anything special, either way, this time around I would rather see us win.

  • POSTGAME: Hawthorn

Wayward kicking for goal, dump kicks inside 50 and some baffling umpiring all contributed to the Dees not getting out to an an early lead that may have impacted the result. At the end of the day the Demons were just not good enough and let the Hawks run away with their first win against the Demons in 7 years.

  • NON-MFC: Round 09

Round 9 kicks off out west with the Dockers hosting a Collingwood side resting several stars. Fremantle need to make a statement on their home deck after some disappointing form on the road, while the Magpies will be keen to maintain their Top 2 position. Friday night sees a must-win clash between two sides desperate to stay in touch with the eight. St Kilda have shown glimpses while Carlton are clinging to relevance after a flat start to the season. Saturday’s twilight game at Marvel pits the Bombers against a struggling Sydney outfit. Essendon can’t afford another close match against a lower-ranked side, while the Swans risk sliding down the ladder even further. Up in Darwin, the fourth-placed Suns will look to extend their stay in the top four. The Bulldogs have hit their stride with three big wins on the trot and will be very keen to consolidate on their momentum. The always fiery Showdown looms as pivotal for both clubs. Adelaide are eyeing a spot in the Top 4 with a win, while Port Adelaide’s season could slip away if they drop another game and fall further behind the pack. Sunday begins with a yawn fest between Richmond and West Coast. The Tigers need to bank the points to stay clear of the bottom two, while the Eagles are still chasing their first win of the year. The Giants face one of the league’s toughest road trips as they travel to GMHBA Stadium to face the Cats. With GWS at risk of a third straight loss, Geelong will be eager to consolidate their position inside the eight and start their climb up the ladder. The round wraps up with the top-of-the-table Lions heading to Ninja Stadium to take on the second-last Roos. The Lions should easily take care of the struggling Roos who might be powerless against the best in the comp. Who are you tipping and what are the best results for the Demons?
