The Clash Strip That Wasn't

Featured Replies

Bh the prospect of the Dees playing in a GF seems like a decade away.

To get the Dees into a GF I would be happy with pink and purple polka dots.

Seriously For a GF appearance and win I would be very happy with that strip.

What they wear means very little to me in these times.

I would just love a side with the ability to make one no matter what they wear.

Fair enough.

Our colours and iconic jumper still mean much to me and I suspect they always will.

Must agree BH.

Seeing the demons run around the MCG in a red white & Blue jumper makes me angry. Very angry.

Gee wyl why waste your anger on the clash strip.

It is at the bottom of my Anger list

Unlike some of previous examples this one is reasonable.

Because they represent the colours of my club. Not Footscray.

Good thought we should amalgamate with the Dogs

The result might give us a chance at scrapping into eighth place!

Stop now!!

Stop now!!

Small joke there wyl.

Well perhaps it is --

It's simple, there was a clash yesterday. Both teams have a clash strip, just so happens that ours clashes with their original strip. At least one occasion Blease mistook a saint for one of ours and passed it to him.

Any clash should be eliminated where possible. The solution yesterday would have been for us to wear our traditional jumper and the Saints to wear their clash strip, doesn't matter whose home game it was, that was the solution, the AFL failed.

Spot on. I turned on the TV and couldn't believe my eyes. It was hard to follow and one goal came from it without doubt. McDonald crossed goal clearly thinking it was only Dees in sight.

This ranked up there with the Umpire outfit debacle.

The strips are too close but both teams normal jumpers dont clash at all.

Am sure I saw a Melbourne player look to handball to a St Kilda trainer who was in white in the first quarter.

If we have to wear white, then the opposition trainers should not be allowed to wear white.

There are two issues. Firstly the thread is about the illogical point of wearing a clash strip even though it clashed with the opposition and our normal jumper wouldn't have; so even if you like the clash strip it was nonsensical; and secondly, I would hate my club to wear anything other than our iconic jumper on GF day. Unfortunately there are no guarantees this would be the case.

But the first point is the point of this thread.

Hate the white, we are red and blue, when I started following as a kid we wore royal blue with the red yoke, this does not clash with essendon, carlton, richmond, meth coast home, port or saints as sides wearing dark strips.

If anyone at the club is reading please can our alternate strip be Royal blue jumper with red yoke, white shorts & red socks

For all other games back to our traditional navy blue & red

It may make visual sense , but for those of us who survived the hideous '70's , the Royal Blue "colour tv " jumper makes us shudder !

It is another AFL debacle
