Just saw these 2 on the FA list. Both would work a charm on our list, especially Kerrs experience. Yeh he turns 29 this year but throw him a 2 yr contract to show the young fellas how its done.

I remember seeing this guy bring down Barry Hall in the goalsquare.

I'd like Stanton, coming good, prolific ball winner

Hodge Mitchell and Sewell gone fron Hawks midfield would be interesting lol

Just checked, Deledio re-signed for another 2 years about a month ago, so might be an idea to check this list before getting too excited fellas

REALISTICALLY ACHIEVABLE players that I'd be interested in: Doughty, Adcock, Slattery, Grover, Sewell, Butler, Gwilt, Salopek, Tuck, Bateman, Surjan, Rosa.

Bateman.... lol....

Sewell, absolutely!

Yes, Bateman.

Why "lol"?

We're talking about Chance Bateman right?

He'll be lucky to be offered another contract I would have thought, and doesn't seem to fit with our needs at all, we've already got a struggling ageing former goal sneak.

Lids signed for 5 years.

He's not a goal sneak.

And he'd be a good role model for the players, as a gut-running midfielder.

The very type of mature-bodied and mature-minded player we require.

Good for only a couple of years, but that's all we want.

Good work. Just skimmed the news to check, either way he's out of our reach.

Just don't see him being a regular 22 guy for us from 2013 onwards, and I reckon we have enough of those "depth" style players, MUCH prefer more of a gun, like Sewell, would fit in so well with Neeld's style.

I think he'd be great to have around the club for his influence on the kids, would play a handful of games, and that we'd be able to throw him a lifeline and get him cheap.

I wouldn't be looking for anyone to play much after 2013.

We need to build our list from the draft.

Any mature-agers should be supplementary and acquired with aiding the development of the kids in mind, first and foremost.

I know Sydney have done well, but I don't think we would have the same success attempting to replicate their model.

Not at this stage.

When I think of us signing an old player from another club I just can't help but think Byron Pickett... (who incidentally was one of my favourite players, but was probably a bad move for us)... Just don't see the point in getting these guys in for a year or at most 2, we're not having a shot at a flag and need a top up, and all they'll do is take games off young guys for a while, much rather a gun who takes games off young guys until they earn it not just until the old bloke retires.

Yes, Bateman.

Why "lol"?

Cause it's Bateman.

Ebert is an enticing prospect. As is Adcock.

Yes - its a few posts up the thread.

What would be Sewell's motivation for leaving Hawthorn?

They want to trade him for Ferg?

  • REPORT: Carlton

I am now certain that the decline in fortunes of the Melbourne Football Club from a premiership power with the potential for more success to come in the future, started when the team ran out for their Round 9 match up against Carlton last year. After knocking over the Cats in a fierce contest the week before, the Demons looked uninterested at the start of play and gave the Blues a six goal start. They recovered to almost snatch victory but lost narrowly with a score of 11.10.76 to 12.5.77. Yesterday, they revisited the scene and provided their fans with a similar display of ineptitude early in the proceedings. Their attitude at the start was poor, given that the game was so winnable. Unsurprisingly, the resulting score was almost identical to that of last year and for the fourth time in succession, the club has lost a game against Carlton despite having more scoring opportunities.

  • CASEY: Carlton

The Casey Demons smashed the Carlton Reserves off the park at Casey Fields on Sunday to retain a hold on an end of season wild card place. It was a comprehensive 108 point victory in which the home side was dominant and several of its players stood out but, in spite of the positivity of such a display, we need to place an asterisk over the outcome which saw a net 100 point advantage to the combined scores in the two contests between Demons and Blues over the weekend.

  • POSTGAME: Carlton

A near full strength Demons were outplayed all night against a Blues outfit that was under the pump and missing at least 9 or 10 of the best players. Time for some hard decisions to be made across the board.
