What a strange match, but Ill happily take 8 points down @ half time.

Games against Richmond are often strange. Remember the 7 point loss last year? I came out of that laughing - I had nfi what I had just seen, but it wasn't short of a spectacle.

The lads tried their guts out in that quarter. We're in the contest at half time. Will gladly take that.

Glad to see some contested marks from the Demons. It has seemed for years that we're no good at this aspect of the game.

I really don't know where this idea (pushed by a few on here) that Sylvia is a bogan comes from as he just acquitted himself very well on Fox Footy... very well spoken and intelligent well considered comments.

I'm very impressed with Davey so far.

Watts has also been very good. Trengove needs to lift. Jamar needs to think before he disposes of the footy. Bate's been alright. Howe's been good. If Clark hadn't had some crucial brain fades in the first quarter he'd be close to our best.

Two very poor teams at this point, we really need to win this. Long season if we don,t. Long season if we win anyway.

I agree with you, but I think it comes from some of his off field behaviour...

not just that i was at dees v lions round 1 and from 3 quarter time onwards sylvia was sitting in jim stynes room with a chick on his lap couldnt give a crap about the game i know some of us supporters can switch off but he gets paid by MFC to support his team mates when he is not playing, i thought it was really poor form from him

Jealousy?

Just over use of the ball is killing us, twice we were streaming forward and one extra handball turns it over. I'm liking the intent, just execution is lacking, but we're a big chance to win this, probably just need captain Jack T to set up a bit.

Also two very poor misses at the end by Stef and Mitch.

Come on Dees.....

Great stuff from Clark and Howe. Morton is embarrasing.

Smart and strong play from Clark... nice set up for Sellar to goal.

Sellar....geez alright, come on dees .....Howe rackin up the possies...

Much better. But then that's what happens against lesser teams.

Morton and Bate aren't up to it...

How do our defenders constantly allow their forwards so much room?

Bate's game a mile in front of plenty of others in the Red and Blue

morton needs to go he is a liability

Half the team needs to go... I'm sorry, but putting in an effort for 5 minutes each quarter is not acceptable.

  • REPORT: Carlton

I am now certain that the decline in fortunes of the Melbourne Football Club from a premiership power with the potential for more success to come in the future, started when the team ran out for their Round 9 match up against Carlton last year. After knocking over the Cats in a fierce contest the week before, the Demons looked uninterested at the start of play and gave the Blues a six goal start. They recovered to almost snatch victory but lost narrowly with a score of 11.10.76 to 12.5.77. Yesterday, they revisited the scene and provided their fans with a similar display of ineptitude early in the proceedings. Their attitude at the start was poor, given that the game was so winnable. Unsurprisingly, the resulting score was almost identical to that of last year and for the fourth time in succession, the club has lost a game against Carlton despite having more scoring opportunities.

  • CASEY: Carlton

The Casey Demons smashed the Carlton Reserves off the park at Casey Fields on Sunday to retain a hold on an end of season wild card place. It was a comprehensive 108 point victory in which the home side was dominant and several of its players stood out but, in spite of the positivity of such a display, we need to place an asterisk over the outcome which saw a net 100 point advantage to the combined scores in the two contests between Demons and Blues over the weekend.

  • POSTGAME: Carlton

A near full strength Demons were outplayed all night against a Blues outfit that was under the pump and missing at least 9 or 10 of the best players. Time for some hard decisions to be made across the board.
