I'm confidently tipping "the eight". That is, the bottom eight.

I like it BbO

A little humour never goes astray

Particularly this week

I'm confident that our team has improved and overall we'll give a stronger, more committed and consistent contest.

Unfortunately, a lot of other teams are improving at the same time. (Tigers, Crows, North will be better than last year).

It's just our lack of A Graders and foot skills - especially in the midfield - So I suspect we'll finish around 11th this year.

I think we'll win 10 games. That'll sit us around 10th - 12th.

We should be looking for greater consistency of effort this year. Narrower margins in losses etc ...

We'll make the eight in 2013.

No I meant bottom eight. And, as to being true to my name - it's a ying and yang thing. At the moment "optimistic is not in the ascendant.

Keep them coming BbO

I'm tired of hearing all this crap about our mids .

Jack Trengove (Captain)

Brent Moloney (B+F) Most clearances in the league

Mark Jamar (AA ruckman)

Nathan Jones ( improving each year)

The two Jordies

Good Times (Captain on the rare occasions he isn't injured)

Bates-rated more highly by other clubs than our own .

What more do you sad sacks want .

I expect us to win more games than we lose .I think we will play 4 quarters rather than two .

We are fitter ,we have a key target up front .

We have a plan and a new coach .

We have the best talent in the land.

We just need a streak to build some confidence and then ANYTHING IS POSSIBLE .

Nay-sayers abound on this forum ,which is fine as there has been much suffering .

Remember-this is sport .Fairytales can and do happen all the time .

I believe we can get into the finals and win one or two .

Then how come we get walloped at centre clearances week after week

and how come we got belted so often in 2011

Can you tell when the last fairytale team won a flag?

Back in the seventies The pies went from Last to the Grand Final.

Did they win NO

I don't believe in Fairy Tales and neither do you.

We got belted in 2011 because we had a stupid coach and a traitor in our midst-and no clear plan .

This year is different .

Will two of those might be true

I think the reasons are a little more complex than that.

Based on the fact we won 8.5 games in 2010 and we were 'meant' to take the next step in 2011, and for whatever reasons we didn't, I struggle to understand how people do not think we will finish much better than our 2010 season given the fact most of the players on our list that year are still with us, and are in fact further developed (as opposed to having already reached their peak and on the decline). Based on that fact, in addition to our reasonable draw in 2012 (i.e. only playing 1 finalist - St Kilda - twice; a side likely on the decline anyway! and. . playing GWS twice, and not once at their real home ground), I find it difficult to see how we cannot aim for a minimum 11 wins, and even perhaps 12-13 with a good run home. That, to my reckoning, would mean we would finish 7-8th!

Of course things can go wrong (i.e. aweful run of injuries, etc), however I do not expect last season's off-field dramas to reoccur as out off-field structure appears as firm as anyone now. Further to that point, we seem to have a coaching group with a realistic game plan - something we somewhat lacked under the Bailey regime. .

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. Windsor's run won't be lost playing off half back. In 19 games in 2024 he kicked 8 goals as a winger. I see him getting shots at g

Demonland's own Whispering Jack was not in attendance but he kicked off proceedings with the following summary of all the Preseason Training action to date. BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
