Great...i LOVE Westerns

Came across a good new comedy called "Episodes" about a British couple who have a successful comedy in the UK . The plot revolves around the "American" version of the show with the lead played by Matt LeBlanc ( who is somewhat miscast as a Headmaster of an elite boys academy ) .

It has been nominated for a Grammy award for best comedy series . Worth a look .

Just finished watching American: The Bill Hicks Story. A very funny, very clever man.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fifayd7rIwY

Still on iView for anyone interested.

Great man, gone too soon.

There are a couple of good reads about him, American Scream by Cynthia True and Agent of Evolution by his mate Kevin Booth.

Someone should start a Doco thread.

The Sunday Best series has been a real eye opener for me. Just a brilliant collection of documentaries.

The last doco on Anvil was pretty good.

Another good doco. SBS is rerunning the series the Staircase.

Academy Award-winning documentary filmmaker, Jean-Xavier de Lestrade, presents a gripping courtroom thriller, offering a rare and revealing inside look at a high-profile murder trial. In 2001, author Michael Peterson was arraigned for the murder of his wife Kathleen, whose body was discovered lying in a pool of blood on the stairway of their home. Granted unusual access to Peterson's lawyers, home and immediate family, de Lestrade's cameras capture the defense team as it considers its strategic options. "The staircase" is an engrossing look at contemporary American justice that features more twists than a legal bestseller.

From the IMDb

You can watch Part 1 & 2 in full on Google Video. I think it's an 8 part series.

Excellent, thanks for this, will get right on to it.

There's a crime documentary called Dear Zachary. I strongly recommend everyone to see it.

Without giving too much away, it's about a young doctor that was shot and killed. Loved by everyone, and his best friend decides to film everyone's tributes to him. What happens from there is just unbelievable.

I couldn't believe what I was watching.

Also Paradise Lost 1 & 2: The West Memphis Three.

A look at crime in inbred America and how justice works... or fails. It plays like a movie with the nutters that are in this, and they're not even the accused.

Wow. Just finished watching Dear Zachary. Unbelievable is probably a good way of describing it.

And apologies in regard to The Staircase. I'd seen it a few years ago and only noticed it recently in passing. It seems that the screening is fairly well advanced in the series. PM me if anyone wants some ideas on where to track it down.

Boss with Kelsey Grammer is one new series I have been watching. I think its pretty good.

Whites on ABC is pretty good. It's a few years old now and unfortunately it only ran for one season.

ABC also has Last Chance To See. I read the book by Douglas Adams many years ago which is absolutely brilliant. Worth watching & reading both.

The latest installments of "Sherlock" are wonderful .

They will need your full attention as usual so plan your evening !

2.1 A Scandal in Belgravia , 2.2 The Hounds of Baskerville 2.3 , The Reichenbach Fall .

Complex again and it's a "revelation" on how the writers have brought "Holmes" to the modern day . So clever . Don't miss 'em !

The game is afoot ! ( my dear Watson )

Can't go past Breaking Bad at the moment. In terms of comedy I think It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia is a classic, but you have to watch it from the beginning and persevere through a relatively slow season and a bit until Danny De Vito comes in. I don't think I've ever laughed as hard as I have during that show.

I also find The Office to still be quite good, despite Steve Carrell's departure. Can't see it going for too much longer though.

Anyone seen previews for the new series Alcatraz? I can't decide whether it'll be Lost 2.0, or something that actually makes sense...

Half way through "Boss" and I heartily recommend it.

I'm really enjoying New Girl, but probably wouldn't watch it unless Zooey was in it.

Big Bang Theory is always a goer.

Dexter is definitely my favourite current show - the end of Season 6 blew my mind!

I also catch Downton Abbey, Parenthood, and like my musicals so I keep track of Glee as well.

As far as Aussie shows, I'm looking forward to the return of Packed to the Rafters and Winners and Losers. The Slap was a winner for me - I read the book last year before I knew they were making a series. Nothing but a pleasant surprise.

Boyfriend has pulled me in to some of his older shows - I finished the complete series of Outrageous Fortune in under 3 months and we are currently watching Arrested Development from way back when Michael Cera was actually an awkward teenager instead of trying to play on.

I'm not sure if any of these have made it to TV, but they're great none the less.

These are a few documentaries on GMO's and, more specifically, Monsanto.

Very, very interesting viewing.

Had to watch The World According to Monsanto for one of my Geography courses in my first year. Amazing and terrifying how much control and influence Monsanto has.

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
