MFC EMBLEM SERIES HEATHCOTE SHIRAZ 2009

I ordered a case a week or go. Should be getting it soon.

Anyone on here had the Emblem Shiraz? Any good?

Bought a case months ago - yet to taste but Heathcote Shiraz from Tyrell's I bought 2010 was a knockout, which is why I went for the emblem series. this is likely to be similar. Terrrific big red area, Heathcote.

Sounds good!

Sounds great, but can't find it on the website.

Want to order a case. Little help?

If it's the Rufus Stone Shiraz from Heathcote, and the price suggests it is, then it's terrific.

Halliday rates it 93 and says "Light red-purple; the fragrant, red berry bouquet is lifted by the 3% co-fermented viognier, and the palate has more drive and thrust than the light colour would suggest, yet leaves an overall sense of elegance."

Enjoy.

Any Rufus Stone from Tyrrells is beautiful, Especially the Shiraz.

I'm most of the way through my first case, and will be ordering another. I'm not sure whether it's Rufus Stone under a different label, but it's certainly a lovely drop and excellent value. The emblem and the story of the emblem on the back of the bottle, make a nice conversation piece when entertaining fellow AFL fans.

The description on the bottle says: 'The Heatcote Shiraz is rich and powerful, being sourced from an ancient strip of Cambrian soil said to give these wines their unique structure. We hope you enjoy this wine over the next few seasons.'

A few of my Demon mates will be getting a bottle in their Christmas stockings.

If someone from another team's forum was reading this thread, they'd sure be getting a laugh over how cliche it all is... imagine that.. Melbourne supporters talking about red wine!

In other news, I think I'll get some to share around at Christmas, and also keep for myself. Love a good drop, and Heathcote produces some damn nice reds. :)

Where to order MFC branded wines now? The old link in here doesn't work. Cheers!

Whilst on one of my favorite topics, any single malt drinkers in the house?

I finally 'got it' late last year and am having a ball exploring the world of single malts. Any recommendations for good smokey, peaty goodness?

Talk about off topic.

I am an avid fan. Look for Ardberg and Laphroaig (both Islay malts) - stick with the basic Ardberg, but some of the (dearer) quarter cask Laphroaig versions are worth the extra. Talisker from the Isle of Skye is another beauty.

-_-

Bloody hypocryte aren't I? But hell it's all grog!

Mono love your suggestions Ardbeg right up there but I tell you what I'm on a bottle of the Laphroaig Quarter Cask at the moment and it is blowing my mind! I can't stop talking about it. I think this is what happens to people who first discover the pleasures of the good stuff. Thanks for your suggestions mate!

Baranows cigar bar in Hawthorn had a night on with these Islay malts and it really opened my eyes. Wow!

I havent tried this particular shiraz - had one recently from Strathbogie that was amazing.

  • REPORT: West Coast

On a night of counting, Melbourne captain Max Gawn made sure that his contribution counted. He was at his best and superb in the the ruck from the very start of the election night game against the West Coast Eagles at Optus Stadium, but after watching his dominance of the first quarter and a half of the clash evaporate into nothing as the Eagles booted four goals in the last ten minutes of the opening half, he turned the game on its head, with a ruckman’s masterclass in the second half.  No superlatives would be sufficient to describe the enormity of the skipper’s performance starting with his 47 hit outs, a career-high 35 possessions (22 of them contested), nine clearances, 12 score involvements and, after messing up an attempt or two, finally capping off one of the greatest rucking performances of all time, with a goal of own in the final quarter not long after he delivered a right angled pass into the arms of Daniel Turner who also goaled from a pocket (will we ever know if the pass is what was intended). That was enough to overturn a 12 point deficit after the Eagles scored the first goal of the second half into a 29 point lead at the last break and a winning final quarter (at last) for the Demons who decided not to rest their champion ruckman at the end this time around.

  • GAMEDAY: West Coast

It's Game Day and the Demons have a chance to notch up their third consecutive win — something they haven’t done since Round 5, 2024. But to do it, they’ll need to exorcise the Demons of last year’s disastrous trip out West. Can the Dees continue their momentum, right the wrongs of that fateful clash, and take another step up the ladder on the road to redemption?
