D.Does he want to be with us?

E. Will he ever put on weight?

Can anyone find 4 "yes" answers to these questions .

Junior development/career means EVERYTHING it's the difference between making it to the AFL or not!

You state the question isn't about potential or ability. So you are saying there's progress to be made.

So to answer your obtuse questions and get 4 'yes' that make it or brake it for Cale

A) He has had ONE bad year over 2 seasons which were impacted by injury - that is fact not speculation. So yes it's been a bad year and he has runs on the he deserves patience

B Trading him at his lowest point we wont get adequate value - So yes trading him hurts

C Morton is an outside player always will be. Can you teach team defence - Yes Can you teach tackling technique - Yes. Can you teach hunger for contest - No that's up to Cale

D) He's an MFC player he's one of us so until that changes he wants to be with us - An absolutely absurd question. How can profess or assert he wants to go you have no idea.

E) Will he put weight on? was recruited at 78kg current playing weight is 87kg so yes he's put weight on

Won best first year player in our worse year ever 2008

Was a highlight in the darkest/worst period of our history 2008/2009 - I actually went to games to see him play

He's pure outside player that wont change

He can add to team balance - quality outside players are essential

He has been injury hampered in last 2 years - PCL was his first major injury and he hasn't recovered

He has put 9kgs on since being drafted

There is absolutely zero fact checking in this thread before opinions are being made.

He deserves at least 12 months to get back into form.

Ditto to that...the camera pan clearly showed the ball moving into their area and Morton moving away from Lade and into the play zone. Lade, the knucklehead, was too slow to realise what was happening.

Morton has been cruelly dealt with by Footy Show heroes. He should not have to cop it from Demon supporters.

A swap with another interstater who wants to come home, maybe from GCSuns, maybe elsewhere. Simple, If were unable to get a reasonable trade, we keep him on. Or he walks.

I remember a couple of years ago when the heat was on, there was a bit push and shove and Cale got the push ,and he didn't offer a shove, he just turned around and ran off like the school bully was after him. Commentators just laughed!! I was appalled. And he hasn't done anything since to show me he has got what it takes to succeed.

I don't know how relevant he will be for us in this role -If he cannot change his style and take a contested mark ,kick straight or man up.

Craig Bradley types need to hit a target at least 80% of the time.

Tackling is also compulsory now .

Casey will do him good -Hope he dominates there and gets back the Confidence he needs .

I dont feel good about knocking our players but a guy like Bate ( also one of our best 2 years ago)

deserves his go in the 1sts .

Seems to me it may not be as simple as "yes, we keep him; no, we don't".

Morton has put off contract talks til the end of the year. Could be/presumably he is testing the market.

Thus, if we decide to keep him, how much coin we offer (which may well depend on Scully and Sylvia's futures - amongst others), may well determine if he stays.

My guess is that we will put a new offer of some sort forward; it will then be up to him if he accepts (or has better offers or not). Bit how McClean panned out.

Ed.: I would not be making the offer too attractive.

I would would definitely have him ahead of Nathan Buckley & equal of Michael Voss for effectiveness.

PCL - He had 10 weeks off, it impacted 2010, you miss half a season it has to.

Broken Finger impacted his preseason what ever you think he couldn't do any ball handling.

40 games out of 44 in 2 seasons he was considered elite within his draft group.

I ask for at least another 12 months to judge where he's at.
