The "any number" was simply a reference to the the mount of rumours circling a coaching appointment. But I suppose it could reference any number of things !! :)

You know we have a game on Sunday does anyone care?

For the seventh year in a row August's only attraction is who is the coach and what draft picks will we get.

Pretty much over this crap.

OD...not overly fussed about the rest of the season. Think they were my thoughts after about round 2 actually !!

Yes bb that was the cruncher!

First time in a long time, in the aftermath of a game, that I've we've been well coached strategically. And what McKenzie has been doing languishing at Casey and playing as a defensive wingman, for god's sake, is anyone's guess.

Not sure about the well coached strategically. Certainly an improvement and some flexibility but watts in defence in last quarter when suns kicked around him and we needed someone to finish in the front end was an obvious fail.

On the other hand the treatment on Ablett rotations and constant niggling by all players was a master coaching tactic.

At least and at last some positive signs

Foundation dinner on tonight. Couldn't make it, but WJ will be there and should keep us informed.

Could be an interesting night Redleg

Asking constantly while all the time we get worse on the field might be starting to wear a little thin with people who have given a lot in the past.

Perhaps the new President announced tonight?

So Red, we doing this thing in Nov or what ?? :)

In the Caven Redleg?

Always wanted to go to Liverpool but on the two occasions I was in England could never convince my wife to visit.

Is he marrying a pommy sheila?

Hell of a trip to see the future GC's.

The scoreboard seldom lies TBF.

Yes it does, Mark Neeld told me so.

poor girl :( Dees that is...not Scoop lol

May be I been under my lilly pad for too long but surely there been some good players who have been shafted by the Club lately?

My suggestions would be B Green, Robbo, J MacDonald, A Yze, C Bruce, J Rivers, B McLean, B Molony to name a few.

It really depends on how you define "shafted". All players reach a time when they have to move or be moved on. James McDonald had reached that stage a few years ago at the age of 33. Problem was the situation was badly handled by the coach and the football department. Perhaps it was this that ultimately sowed the seeds of discontent that came to a head with 186.

Robbo spoke at last night's Foundation Dinner and while he conceded he was upset when told it was the end for him, he recognised that the time had come.

I don't think many of the above names were really "shafted" but some, like Moloney, played a part in their demise.

  • REPORT: Brisbane

“Max Gawn has been the heart and soul of the Dees for years now, but this recent recovery from a terrible start has been driven by him. He was everywhere again, and with the game in the balance, he took several key marks to keep the ball in the Dees forward half.” - The Monday Knee Jerk Reaction: Round Ten Of course, it wasn’t the efforts of one man that caused this monumental upset, but rather the work of the coach and his assistants and the other 22 players who took the ground, notably the likes of Jake Melksham, Christian Petracca, Clayton Oliver and Kozzie Pickett but Max has been magnificent in taking ownership of his team and its welfare under the fire of a calamitous 0-5 start to the season. On Sunday, he provided the leadership that was needed to face up to the reigning premier and top of the ladder Brisbane Lions on their home turf and to prevail after a slow start, during which the hosts led by as much as 24 points in the second quarter. Titus O’Reily is normally comedic in his descriptions of the football but this time, he was being deadly serious. The Demons have come from a long way back and, although they still sit in the bottom third of the AFL pack, there’s a light at the end of the tunnel as they look to drive home the momentum inspired in the past four or five weeks by Max the Magnificent who was under such great pressure in those dark, early days of the season.

  • CASEY: Southport

The Southport Sharks came to Casey. They saw and they conquered a team with 16 AFL-listed players who, for the most part, wasted their time on the ground and failed to earn their keep. For the first half, the Sharks were kept in the game by the Demons’ poor use of the football, it’s disposal getting worse the closer the team got to its own goal and moreover, it got worse as the game progressed. Make no mistake, Casey was far and away the better team in the first half, it was winning the ruck duels through Tom Campbell’s solid performance but it was the scoreboard that told the story.

  • PREGAME: Sydney

Just a game and percentage outside the Top 8, the Demons return to Melbourne to face the Sydney Swans at the MCG, with a golden opportunity to build on the momentum from toppling the reigning premiers on their own turf. Who comes in, and who makes way?
