For years the only time I hear from him is when he shoots me a snarky text after a Melbourne loss. Especially if itโ€™s at the hands of Carlton.
๐Ÿค” Funny thing, I havenโ€™t heard from him in quite a while. ๐Ÿ˜

You may not again in my lifetime.

If I can remember Carlton correctly, they had some success in the 80's. Also a few good coaches had gone there and failed big time. I pity any Carlton coach and player. It a very thankless task.

They have been ordinary since the league cracked down on paper bag payments. That made it very difficult for them to go out and buy the best players. They failed to adapted to the new system in the similar way that the MFC did in the 60'S.ย

Indeed, it has been fantastic watching them suffering over the years. If only it could last another 57 years.

The problem is that their golden era was at a time when football coverage was restricted to match of the day replays on a Saturday.

All people really got to watch on a weekend was their premiership third quarter comeback. Hence why they have so many enduring supporters.

20 years (and counting) in the doldrums, a deeply ingrained delusion that they are some type of latent super power (when they are likely to fall out of the big 4 Melbourne clubs the way they are going) and an impatience that prevents them fromย  fixing the joint up properly should see the status quo prevail for some time.

I won't hear another cross word against Nigel.

Despite your sullying of his good name, he is a generous and thoughtful soul as is demonstrated by this video of him sending birthday wishes to his former MEP constituents.

Maybe Carlton can merge with Collingwood so both irrelevant teams can become one?

Hope itโ€™s okay to post this here despite it being not about footy. But itโ€™s also not about hwfua, so hopefully itโ€™s all good. ๐Ÿ™‚

This is how I first saw todayโ€™s HS back page, ie, upside downโ€ฆ

I was aghast. I thought, โ€˜Scott Boland smokes?! He smokes while training?! The HS has published a pic of him smoking?!โ€™๐Ÿ˜†

And upside down too.ย  What a talent.

I intentionally posted the pic upside down, Jontee. Thatโ€™s how I first saw it. Otherwise, you see itโ€™s The Big Showโ€™s bat. ๐Ÿ˜

Now I find out that HWSNBN, thinks he is a cricket umpire as well and once called our beloved Captain Maxie for chucking.

How dare he suggest that Maxie would bend the arm when bowling.

It was probably because he got a close up look of him bending his Back whilst Chucking.ย

  • REPORT: Western Bulldogs

The next coach of the Melbourne Football Club faces the challenge of teaching his players how to win games against all comers. At times during this tumultuous season, that task has seemed daunting, made more so in light of the surprise news last week of the sacking of premiership coach Simon Goodwin. However, there were also some positive signs from yesterdayโ€™s match against the Western Bulldogs that the challenge may not be as difficult as one might think. The two sides presented a genuine football spectacle, featuring pulsating competitive play with eight lead changes throughout the afternoon, in a display befitting a finals match. The result could have gone either way and in the end, it came down to which team could produce the most desperate of acts to provide a winning result. It was the Bulldogs who had their season on the line that won out by a six point margin that fitted the game and the effort of both sides.

  • CASEY: Brisbane

The rain had been falling heavily in south east Queensland when the match began at Springfield, west of Brisbane. The teams exchanged early goals and then the Casey Demons proceeded like a house on fire in the penultimate game of the VFL season against a strong opponent in the Brisbane Lions. Sparked by strong play around the ground by seasoned players in Charlie Spargo and Jack Billings, a strong effort from Bailey Laurie and promising work from youngsters in Kynan Brown andย  Koltyn Tholstrup, the Demons with multiple goal kickers firing, raced to a 27 point lead late in the opening stanza. A highlight was a wonderful goal from Laurie who brilliantly sidestepped two opponents and kicked beautifully from 45 metres out.
