I doubt the published team positions will bear much relationship to reality on game day IMHO

Agree.

Whilst Montagna is a big in for them, the Saints desperately miss Hayes. Our mids will need to be on top. Clearances, contested ball and tackles. That's where it will be won.

Awesome post/article. Well written. Appreciate the effort.

Doggo there are no Casey games this weekend they have the Bye.

Not sure what happened to Campbell last weekend i have seen nothing on him.

Did not get mentioned in the reserves scratch match.

Mystery man at present.

Cheers old dee. Was wondering the same thing about Robbie, would have thought for someone coming off such a limited preparation that playing against Cranbourne in the scratch match would've been an ideal opportunity to get some run in the legs. Perhaps he didn't pull up too well from his first game back?

No player who lays more than 10 tackles in a match is ever "lucky" to hold his spot.

Fair point, but when you're slow, don't get terribly involved in the play, and don't really have any offensive talent to add to the tackling, the tackling itself sometimes isn't enough.

IMO, whilst he ought to be commended for putting his body on the line, chasing, and doing the team thing, Jetta last week didn't look like an AFL player. Of course, it's OK to have defensive-minded players in the side, but my impression of Jetta based on last week's game was that he was not adding a lot to the side.

Agree, but a few posters have got a little excited by Watts being named at HBF.

We will line up something like this

Bartram Warnock Rivers

Tapscott Frawley MacDonald

Davey Moloney Jones

Sylvia Watts Green

Maric Newton Jurrah

Martin Gysbert McKenzie

Evans Petterd Jetta

Sub Bate

  • DRAFT: The Next Generation

It was not long after the announcement that Melbourne's former number 1 draft pick Tom Scully was departing the club following 31 games and two relatively unremarkable seasons to join expansion team, the Greater Western Giants, on a six-year contract worth about $6 million, that a parody song based on Adele's hit "Someone Like You" surfaced on social media. The artist expressed lament over Scully's departure in song, culminating in the promise, "Never mind, we'll find someone like you," although I suspect that the undertone of bitterness in this version exceeded that of the original.

  • AFLW REPORT: Brisbane

A steamy Springfield evening set the stage for a blockbuster top-four clash between two AFLW heavyweights. Brisbane, the bookies’ favourites, hosted Melbourne at a heaving Brighton Homes Arena, with 5,022 fans packing in—the biggest crowd for a Melbourne game this season. It was the 11th meeting between these fierce rivals, with the Dees holding a narrow 6–4 edge. But while the Lions brought the chaos and roared loudest, the Demons aren’t done yet.
