A DEVIL OF A TIME

I know.... How annoying is it??

The other thing is, why the hell is Matt answering these repeat questions??

how about this one...

There are obvious issues with the game plan but like Essendon they can be corrected over time. My issue is, have we maximised the potential of the privileged draft position we have had over the last few years, Morton ahead of Dangerfield, Watts ahead of Hurley, Trengove ahead of Martin, realise we need to be patient but the signs aren't good. Premierships reward those that get everything absolutely right

The scary thing is that we have a relatively small injury list....

Our depth is poor to say the least!

What I would love to know is what has Martin done wrong that he gets dropped ahead of guys like Davey who were shizen last week and since round 1.

Lots of shuffling of deck chairs on board a sinking ship really. Very ordinary ins but I suppose the only two good players we have left are injured.

Matt basically said, poor game and someone had to be dropped!!!

hoping the I/C will be the folowing

Jordan Gysberts, Michael Newton, Rohan Bail SUB Austin Wonaeamirri., Wonnas pressure in the last quarter and a bit, may be much needed...

Jetta is really on the cusp of hitting the main squad, he is also looking good over at Casey.

I reckon Aussie has 10 minutes of forward line pressure then he's cooked.

how about this one...

And if any of those 3 sides win a premiership before Melbourne, I will be very surprised! Junior players who make an immediate impact do not concern me.... The only one of that list that could possibly be questioned in years to come will be Morton ahead of Dangermouse.... That kid is going to be a gun!!

that is what i was referring to, stupid comment to make about Trengove, I think he will become a fantastic player..

Happy to see Morton get the chop, in his 4th season, 53 matches under the belt, should be giving us more. Failed to add any significant bulk in that time and disposal remains questionable. Something bout the morton's that aint quite right, I know that WCE were happy to get rid of Mitch as his old man was constantly round the club tellin everyone how good mitch was and where he should be played.

Once Trengove's body and fitness is ready for a full crack at the big time (another pre-season or two) the kid will dominate.... I have seen first hand how he played in SANFL finals over here and his poise and decision making were first class... Also his overhead marking in defense is a sight to behold... He is our future version of Jimmy Bartel

Two injury riddled pre-seasons has not helped this.... I agree his disposal has been poor, but I am willing to give him another couple of years before I judge him harshly.... Eat boy! Friggin' eat!!!

Jimmy Bartel wishes he will be that good...

Jimmy Bartel wishes he will be that good...

LoL

I would wait and see if Jack gets a Charlie and a few premierships under his belt before agreeing with you! :)

Our depth of bigger bodied blokes looks very thin. Thought Spencer would have been a chance.

Hi Matt, tough next couple of months, its going to a test of character for the board and staff

Hi Sam in Sydney, there is no doubt last week was a poor result, but I have said to many people this week - we are in the eight. I know we've played teams we're expected to defeat, but Hawthorn was always going to be tough and West Coast - we haven't beaten there since 2002. But everyone is working tirelessly and it is still a long process - and we all need to hang in there. The positive is that we're eighth on the ladder and considering the scrutiny - it's a fascinating situation. No doubt we need to perform this week - but the season is well and truly alive and I wouldn't give up hope. It's a test for all who love the red and blue - but we've got to remain positive and hang in there. Matt.

I like that response... It makes me feel a little bit better :)

Would be nice if Matt answered one of my damn questions....

Surely my Davey question will get a run?? C'mon Matt....

If Adelaide win and smash us in the ruck. Questions will be asked about dropping Martin. Big call to dump him for mine. Especially as he has been one of the few good things to come out of the early games.

Very happy with the outs.

Would love to see Warnock, Bate and Petterd in too. Toss a coin between Jetta and maric.

Nothing wrong with Bartel, that would be great. But he still aint Chris Judd(D.Martin)!

Questions will be asked about a hell of a lot more than just dropping Stef.... I have a feeling the boys will come out all guns blazing on Sunday... This is a game that we cannot afford to lose.... Staying in the 8 is top priority! The club/players know this... Forget last week and lets get out there and smash those damn Fruit Loops!

Our Chris Judd is injured at the moment.... and if rumour is correct, may not even be ours anymore....

Good to see bate get a crack. Finally a bloke with a bit of bulk in our forward 50.

Petterd & Warnock also deserve a run. Not sure about Maric but hoping he shows the form he's been promising since the NAB cup.

As for the interchange I'd go for: Bail, Gys, Jetta Sub: Newton

If the russian is struggling in the ruck on his on we can sub off our worst performing player for Juice

For some reason I'm sensing a Jack Watts breakout game this week. I've been a bit hard on young Jack but I've just got a bit of a feeling after a lift In intensity from him last week.

Since when does Martin and Davey play the same role? There was no way Davey was going to be dropped but send him back to a pocke t o get back to what he does best. Stefan has been much improved in the ruck but does not look capable of kicking a goal which is where he would be for most of the game. Newts deserves his chance. expect a bench of newts bail gysberts with wonna as the sub if we play Dunn as the sub again I will be physically Ill.

Granted, finger injury would have limited his ability to add size this year, the PCL he got in 2010 should not have impacted on his weights.

I would hazard a guess at least one more out, maybe 2.

Newton should be in for Martin.

It might look somethin' like this?

Melbourne

B: Colin Garland, Matthew Warnock, Clint Bartram

HB: Jack Grimes, James Frawley, Luke Tapscott

C: Brad Green, Colin Sylvia, Rohan Bail

HF: Jack Watts, Matthew Bate, Liam Jurrah

F: Michael Newton, Ricky Petterd, Addam Maric

Foll: Mark Jamar, Brent Moloney, Jack Trengove

I/C (from): Aaron Davey, Jordan Gysberts, Nathan Jones, Sub: Joel Macdonald

Emerg': Austin Wonaeamirri, Neville Jetta, Lynden Dunn,

In: Joel Macdonald, Michael Newton, Ricky Petterd, Matthew Bate, Matthew Warnock, Addam Maric, Neville Jetta

Out: Jared Rivers (ankle), Cale Morton, Stef Martin, Jamie Bennell

Very happy with the outs.

Would love to see Warnock, Bate and Petterd in too. Toss a coin between Jetta and maric.

"Official" Deez mailout has Bate at FUF, Petter on the wing, Warnock at FUB, Maric at forward pocket! All straight in!

Also feel better about having a key fwd at a key position - sick of seeing Sylvia/ Jurrah - ain't working!

Same with our midfield - named Syvlia, Grimey and Trengove in there - Jonesy back to the flank = much better!

Martin rightfully dropped - was deplorable last week, when it was a big man's time to shine in any pack marking situation - same with Morton

Juice may have to come in purely for ruck stocks - Dunn in the ruck??? rather have Jurrahcane!

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Port Adelaide

The undefeated Demons venture across the continent to the spiritual home of the Port Adelaide Football Club on Saturday afternoon for the inaugural match for premiership points between these long-historied clubs. Alberton Oval will however, be a ground familiar to our players following a practice match there last year. We lost both the game and Liv Purcell, who missed 7 home and away matches after suffering facial fractures in the dying moments of the game.

  • AFLW REPORT: Richmond

A glorious sunny afternoon with a typically strong Casey Fields breeze favouring the city end greeted this round four clash of the undefeated Narrm against the winless Tigers. Pre-match, the teams entered the ground through the Deearmy’s inclusive banner—"Narrm Football Weaving Communities Together and then Warumungu/Yawuru woman and Fox Boundary Rider, Megan Waters, gave the official acknowledgement of country. Any concerns that Collingwood’s strategy of last week to discombobulate the Dees would be replicated by Ryan Ferguson and his Tigers evaporated in the second quarter when Richmond failed to use the wind advantage and Narrm scored three unanswered goals.

  • CASEY: Frankston

The late-season run of Casey wins was broken in their first semifinal against Frankston in a heartbreaking end at Kinetic Stadium on Saturday night that in many respects reflected their entire season. When they were bad, they committed all of the football transgressions, including poor disposal, indiscipline, an inability to exert pressure, and some terrible decision-making, as exemplified by the period in the game when they conceded nine unanswered goals from early in the second quarter until halfway through the third term. You rarely win when you do this.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Richmond

Round four kicks off early Saturday afternoon at Casey Fields, as the mighty Narrm host the winless Richmond Tigers in the second week of Indigenous Round celebrations. With ideal footy conditions forecast—20 degrees, overcast skies, and a gentle breeze — expect a fast-paced contest. Narrm enters with momentum and a dangerous forward line, while Richmond is still searching for its first win. With key injuries on both sides and pride on the line, this clash promises plenty.

  • AFLW REPORT: Collingwood

Expectations of a comfortable win for Narrm at Victoria Park quickly evaporated as the match turned into a tense nail-biter. After a confident start by the Demons, the Pies piled on pressure and forced red and blue supporters to hold their collective breath until after the final siren. In a frenetic, physical contest, it was Captain Kate’s clutch last quarter goal and a missed shot from Collingwood’s Grace Campbell after the siren which sealed a thrilling 4-point win. Finally, Narrm supporters could breathe easy.
