Captains Game

I thought Greeny looked out of sorts yesterday> Kicked porly and couldnt get near the footy but stiill got crunched a few times under the packs

Very poor from his high standard seemed slow and wondered if he carried an injury

I really hope not because he has been inspirational

missed a simple 'captain's goal' with 10 minutes left that would have slammed the door on Brisbane. They immeditaely cleared the kick out and went coast to coast but thankfully missed an easy shot themselves. Had they kicked it there would have been one kick in the match. Not a good look Green.

Has not had a great start to the season on the back of a great season last year. Will surely bounce back soon as he is an integral member of the team

To me the Captain is either carrying an injury, or if not has lost half a yard of pace. I really hope its the former.

He might just be trying too hard.

For most people carrying the load of captain and playing there own game does not come easy.

Lets admit it our first three games have not wonderful.

I imagine it is a lot harder for the ( new ) captain in those conditions than when the team is playing well.

He may feel like he personally has to haul the team out of holes on his own.

Result trying to do too much and not playing his natural game.

Yes exactly what I thought Yesterday. He looked slow, reactive and not in the game.

I watched him quite closely. I actually think he is trying to do the selfless team thing rather than focus on his own game. He is still putting in but not getting the results he is used to.

Spent a lot of time trying to cover for others. Moving back into defence late in the quarter as the spare man - that kind of thing.

Think he needs to focus on his own game and being more dangerous to the opp'n. That will come with experience as Captain. I think we underestimate how difficult the role is.

Green has been disappointing, but when he's forward he still leads better than virtually anyone else. He would have had a bunch of 'gettable' set shots if the delivery to him was any good. (I noticed Robbo was at the game, and I'm sure he could empathise with that problem).

PS. Pretty harsh thread title.

To start I want to qualify this post by saying that I live in NSW and must watch games on tele, so can only see what they show. I want to know if the perception I get from the tele is correct or is there alot I don't see not being at the game.

I must say I've been very disappointed with Green so far this year (and most of the team btw). I'm not sure what but something doesn't seem right. I love the bloke, but have found him seeming to be curiously absent in pressure situations. I know from watching other captains and even Jnr, that when the pressure is on you can usually see the capt getting his chin going constantly. Always commenting on anything they see, pumping players for doing something good, giving them advice when they don't. But unfortunately when we have been in high pressure situations he seems to be absent. I have watched him looking for his talking and motivating and can't see it. So I ask, is it just that I can't see it on tele, or is it not there? Is the pressure of trying to combine motivation with just playing getting to him? I hope that I just can't see it on tele, because if not I would question the appointment. I was incredibly happy with them appointing him to captain, and just want to know if I am missing alot by not being at the game.

Your happy with Moloney's leadership when he's maggoted at 2.30am yet Brad Green's leadership is questioned when he misses an albeit important goal...WTF??
