Hey,

Just thought i'd ask if anyone has an update on our great leader?

I saw the DVD but missed the instore but didn't see him in the China pics and then heard on the grapevine that he may be struggling and has gone overseas to try one last treatment....

Any news would be great as fingers crossed for a miracle.

All of us are thinking of Jimmy constantly. I'm not comfortable with this being the basis of a thread though, fully understanding and sharing the genuine concern you have, Watts 04. We just have to respect the club and the great man himself to tell us what he is prepared to and when. Needless to say there is not a person in this forum, this club, the AFL, indeed in all of Australia and Ireland that is not drawing on every inch of our spirituality to help him through this. If anyone can beat it, our Jimma can. The man is a legend.

I understand where you are coming from, Chrystal Dees ... but I really don't think Jim would mind well-meaning supporters sharing their concerns on this site ..... and if that means an occasional question from someone who hopes he isn't out of the loop , then so be it.

I am one of those who sees "no news as bad news " ........... and I just pray that I am wrong. Take as long as you need Jim - just get well

Jimmy's personal health is not a topic for speculation, idle rumour or unsubstanted "fact" on this site.

I suggest we wish the big bloke well with the challenges before him and wait until there are public announcements in the media.

Good luck Jimma!

I agree with this but just wanted to let the first poster know that Jimmy did publicly announce that he was overseas having treatment, and stated that he was sorry he couldn't be with the boys in China.

Lastly I just want to say good luck with the treatment Jimmy and the whole football community wishes you all the best in your constant battle and recovery.

Agreed.

Nothing wrong with genuine concern with asking. I am sure that Jim would be most happy for anyone to pass on the 'facts' if they had them.

It is why he is so public with his fight.

Never shy people away. My mother is fighting the same battle and Jim has been inspirational in being so public with his battle

The support from others cannot be underestimated. Watts04 has shown support by taking time out to ask.

Last i heard was a couple of weeks ago, he was still in asia having "smoke" treatments for about 12 hours a day, and feeling better than he had in a long while.

If we respectfully discuss what is within the public domain and avoid still private issues and rumours I think it is OK to continue. We are all with him and our concern is reflected by our interest. Last I heard via the Hun as has WYL, is that he was in Indonesia investigating alternative therapies.

Agree with that.

The problem is that many people who think they have the "facts" dont and they spread hearsay which is no more than someelse's hearsay.

I dont think its appropriate to have such misinformation hit the forum particularly on such a sensitive topic and when the ability to validate the information is opaque. That is why we should be relying on Club/media releases where the facts are more substantiated that what is sometimes peddled (even in good faith) here.

Unfortunately, posters have no reasonable gauge on what is a "private" issue and nor are they in a position to detect rumours from the "facts".

Everyone is concerned for Jimmy's health but this does not justify the discussion (informed or otherwise) his state of health or what treatment he is having unless it can tied to a reliable media source (eg major media outlet and not Big Footy!)

Hey Rhino, I started saying "if we respectfully discuss what is in the public domain". Are you advocating self censorship in discussing this? Are you insinuating all other poster sans yourself are morons? I haven't seen anything untoward in discussing Jimmy's plight so far, only graciousness and well meaning curiosity at the worst.

Unfortunately, discussion of this topic does have to be monitored because different posters have different assessments of "if we respectfully discuss what is in the public domain" just like the experience to date with posters interpretations of the straightforward rules of this site.

I have no doubt that every post made is graciously but at times the judgement of some posters as to what to post is not appropriate. And for the record, there have been a couple of feckless posts deleted from the site that have soought to peddle dire "facts" about Jimmy's disposition.

And your insinuation accusation is ignorant and uncalled for.

I know you're a Moderator, Rhino, but could you moderate your own posts from time to time? It's generally bad form to continually play the "you're better than that" or "nice try" sarcasm cards, but that kind of seems to be your entire hand lately. Also, I'm not so sure your use of that almost-forgotten word "feckless," is even correct. But I can't be sure, as no-one seems to use that word these days anyway.

What I remember is the Rhino-Richards crash-through-packs mad attacks on the ball. How can you sarcastically attack the football? That footballer was a true enigma.

With regards to Jimmy, he shares what he wants to share on twitter, so just go there. The Dailies re-publish his updates when there is something to say.

An occupational hazard for a "moderator" I would have thought.

I'm sure Jimma understands our thoughts of and for him are well placed and heartfelt. No need to question peoples' motives, other than those imbeciles whose posts have clearly been deleted.
