Cam Newtons post game was super poor. Super poor.

Obviously only having a good time when winning, no class when losing.

Meh, who cares, why does this have to be a thing. Class is shaking your opponents hand and saying well done. The media haven't done him any favours for most of his career, why does he have to give an expansive press conference.

I agree that they shouldn't make them do it, but if you are made to do it for three minutes, show some class and speak to your fans.

As for the media, yep, some haven't been great to him but all this does is give them more fuel for the fire. His motto is "enjoy life"...

Wowwee that defence(sorry both defences) was ridiculous!!!

Panthers killed themselves with flags in 2nd half as well as the fumbles.

Fair old finish to Pey Pey career. No more talk of him being a choker in playoffs.

Was at work trying to watch it, makes it hard watching it with no sound.

Miller is a free agent, going to cost a bit to re sign him I think.

He's heading for a huge pay day ... the mindset is take the money when it comes their way - and I don't blame the players in the slightest. A lot of teams resign themselves to losing certain players - it's often all very matter of fact.

I don't know Denver's salary cap situation but much might depend on whether Peyton goes on.

Peyton has more chance of being at the Rams than the Broncos.

They have a QB in the wings ready to assume the role, he played well when Manning was out. I hope he stays or goes to the Rams ?

Lynch has retired, interesting to see how this affects Seattle.

Just watched the highlights for the first time since watching it live... Anyone see Cam Newton effort on that Von Miller forced fumble ? He went to dive after it and then pulled out of the contest so to speak. I know quarterbacks aren't ment to be in and under but when your down 16-10 deep in opposition territory surely you dive on that ball no matter what. Seemed a pretty soft effort to me

He probably thought it was a forward pass so not a fumble, but FFS, don't take the chance, dive on it.

its not like he doesn't plow into defensive lines trying to get a yard. I bet he replaces that over and over for months to come.

Yeah, it was certainly a moment he won't forget easily ... mainly because he's going to be reminded about it (not diving on the ball when the ball was stripped late in the game) His press conference was a mess but that's who he is - he's a villain to many but that's not such a bad thing for the sport.

It will be interesting to see whether Carolina can bounce back - teams are going to go after them like Denver did. I suppose any team will need the defensive weapons to do that but the pressure will come at them, nonetheless.

The other thing that was strange was that the Panthers didn't at least attempt a hail-mary at the end (there was about a minute left on the clock) ... they quite literally had nothing to lose and if it came off they could have tried an on-side kick. Even if it didn't quite make the distance, they could have at least been in the red zone or close to it. I was watching on ESPN and they didn't even show the last play (the cameras were on Manning etc)

Their whole offense lacked a plan B really. For instance, Newton probably could have run more with the ball. Short cut-out passes could have been tried more etc etc.

Yeah not a lot of read option plays, no screens I can remember. Olsen played as a blocking TE opposed to an offensive weapon.

I see the refs are getting blamed by one of the players... lol

Been fricken busy lately but I watched the game and I did enjoy the defensive style of game it was. Obviously the Broncos pass rush was outstanding considering Cam can run. Denver forced 3rd and longs and the biggest thing I got out of cam was his over throwing of the ball especially in the 1st half and in 2nd half he was throwing it way too low and flat. He has a rocket of a arm but his throws were too hot for his receivers to get hold of it. The other moment that stuck out in my mind was the challenge in by Carolina to have a dropped catch over turned. It was a clear catch and multiple replays showed it but the ruling stood. It makes no sense to me.

The ball moves in his arm and the tip of the ball touches the ground. That's enough for the refs to say that the ground help secure the ball.

Its the only reason I can think of.

Johnny football is in real strife now. Lol I actually wanted the vikes to draft him.

Just watched the 30 for 30 on the Bears 1985 season.. Awesome doco! Only problem was the sound in the last 5-6 minutes went out on the clip i watched through YouTube which seemed pretty emotional viewing so wouldn't recommend watching that version.. If anyone finds another version, post the link so I can watch the last 5 minutes with sound ??

Looks like he is in real trouble and can't get out of the bottle. Have always wanted to see him succeed even with his cockiness.

There was talk of him maybe landing at the Rams due to Fisher being good at managing people.

LA prob ain't the right area for some one like him.

I think he won't get drafted over the summer but will early into the year when a team cops an injury.

If you can find trouble in Cleveland you can find it anywhere. He can play but he isn't a superstar and he hasn't given himself enough game time to prove if he is a genuine starter. I think Fisher could manage to make Brady look bad. Seriously a new coach in tinsletown would go down well. A few on ESPN are calling him the luckiest coach in the NFL.

Agree with all points.

I read that the only thing that kept Fishers job was the move.  If the move was rejected he would have been fired. But with the move they didn't want to have a new head coach as well.

So he has one chance to make the playoffs, I think this will be another wasted year for the Rams.

I hope I'm wrong.

Rams cut Chris Long, James Laurinaitis, Jared Cook

i expected cook to go and even Long, Laurinaitis tho...

Fisher just trying to kill us for one last year...

Love the NFL trade & free agency period. Expect the unexpected and see some ridiculous amounts of money been thrown around! Osweiler leaving the Broncos was a shock, seemed a foregone conclusion he'd slip in after Manning..   Olivier Vernon gets biggest pay deal in DE history!

DeMarcus Murray gone, what a Chipper that was. Os leaving is interesting, discussions of Kap coming over to the Broncs...

Further on OS.. "four years and $72 million, a source told ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter."

Jenkins and McLeod gone after dumping three other of our D.

im so angry now, how does Fisher have a job? He is such a shite coach! What a fIog!

Osweiler moving is a bit of a shock but money talks (if that was the main reason) ... 72 million is a lot of dosh though.

Sanchez being signed by Denver seems a bit bland - have the Broncos got someone else in mind as well?  There are strong rumours surrounding Kaepernick going to Denver but he's been made an offer by the Browns (and Kap wants to go Cleveland too - ??)

Denver Broncos acquire quarterback Mark Sanchez

Of course, it’s not the backline, you might argue and you would probably be right. It’s the boot studder (do they still have them?), the midfield, the recruiting staff, the forward line, the kicking coach, the Board, the interchange bench, the supporters, the folk at Casey, the head coach and the club psychologist  It’s all of them and all of us for having expectations that were sufficiently high to have believed three weeks ago that a restoration of the Melbourne team to a position where we might still be in contention for a finals berth when the time for the midseason bye arrived. Now let’s look at what happened over the period of time since Melbourne overwhelmed the Sydney Swans at the MCG in late May when it kicked 8.2 to 5.3 in the final quarter (and that was after scoring 3.8 to two straight goals in the second term).

  • CASEY: Essendon

Casey’s unbeaten run was extended for at least another fortnight after the Demons overran a persistent Essendon line up by 29 points at ETU Stadium in Port Melbourne last night. After conceding the first goal of the evening, Casey went on a scoring spree from about ten minutes in, with five unanswered majors with its fleet of midsized runners headed by the much improved Paddy Cross who kicked two in quick succession and livewire Ricky Mentha who also kicked an early goal. Leading the charge was recruit of the year, Riley Bonner while Bailey Laurie continued his impressive vein of form. With Tom Campbell missing from the lineup, Will Verrall stepped up to the plate demonstrating his improvement under the veteran ruckman’s tutelage. The Demons were looking comfortable for much of the second quarter and held a 25-point lead until the Bombers struck back with two goals in the shadows of half time. On the other side of the main break their revival continued with first three goals of the half. Harry Sharp, who had been quiet scrambled in the Demons’ first score of the third term to bring the margin back to a single point at the 17 minute mark and the game became an arm-wrestle for the remainder of the quarter and into the final moments of the last.

  • POSTGAME: Port Adelaide

The Demons simply did not take their opportunities when they presented themselves and ultimately when down by 25 points effectively ending their finals chances. Goal kicking practice during the Bye?
