Not happy with the expensive extension to Dak's contract, and McCarthy as silly as always wasting TO that cost points.

Ha ha!  Welcome to McCarthyism (II) !

You did win comfortably, do we need to prepare ourselves when you lose a game?!! 🙄😁

I'm not a fan of Mccarthy but that was an excellent road win against a good team

Defence played very well.

Yes, a lot of positives for the Cowboys considering it was a virtual pick 'em game (-1.5 Dallas)

A loss wouldn't have ended your season but any win on the road is often a bit of a bonus

Nah I have accepted my team's fate. Anything positive is a bonus. 😅

Took me many years but I have come to realise that we won't win anything until JJ is no longer controlling the team.

Well, right now, I'd rather be in your position than numerous other teams

Dallas 25-1 to win the SB is juicy odds

I just don't trust the McCarthy - Dak combination.

Dak falls short under the spotlight of playoffs.

McCarthy is always going to make silly mistakes at play calling or time management.

I hope I am wrong, I would be happy with a Conference championship appearance.

Tough loss to my Rams, we lost our third string Left tackle in the early part of the game and Nacua as well.

We played bloody well until over time when the Lions steamrolled us.

No idea who plays left tackle cos we still have another week until ours is off suspension. Nacua is also a huge loss.

Well, on the road to the possible appearance in the NFC Championship game, you could try and enjoy the journey

With regards to my team, as it stands right now, without Jordan Love for the foreseeable future, it's going to be tough for the Packers

But, we're still an outside chance for a wild-card spot if Love gets back sooner rather than later, so you never know

Mind you, with Dallas at 25-1 or even 20-1 to win the SB, it seems that Vegas agrees with you!! Hee hee

Que sera sera 😆

I think I should apply the same low bar expectations for the Dees during next season.

Well, these external reviews have worked big time for the Cats, Tigers & Pies so I'm all in on barracking for the external review!!

New season, new coaching staff, new QB, roster turnover, same old Falcons 🤮

Both teams should get a possession in overtime.  The current ruling doesn't seem fair to me

And I'm not talking through my hip pocket either (as far as I can remember, GB have never been on the receiving end as the Rams were today)

Chances are that after a tough game, the toss of the coin before overtime has a big influence on the result.  Both defences can be banged up so a decent offense can afford to be quite patient in advancing the ball

Just one possession for each team makes sense

Same with my tipping 🙄

So our third string LT has a MCL, Nacua is on IR so misses at least 4.

No idea who plays LT this week but it can't be the same guy who stepped in on Sunday.

Falcons are the St Kilda of the NFL 😆

Big game today!

A lot of eyes will be on Aaron Rodgers with regards to his overall ability at the ripe old age of 40

In his last year at GB, he was sacked a lot, but the offensive line was banged up back then

And the Jets defence being strong is another big factor that Rodgers wouldn't have seen a lot of

As for the 49ers, they are coming off a SB loss so it will interesting to see how they bounce back

McCaffrey being out for San Francisco is a blow (calf)

And a year on, Purdy could be even more of a weapon

49ers 28  Jets 18

It does, But I don't think they ever want to go down that path.
TBH their offence ran over us like a freight train, could we have scored on a possession... possibly, but we lost that game when we had a penaly on 1st and goal from the 1, that we scored a TD off, then later not going down and instead running out of bounds and stopping the clock and then the last one was Stafford missing Kupp, and he just missed him. If Stafford have half a second more then he makes that pass but the LT being over run all second half meant Stafford released it slightly early.

I thought McCaffrey was playing but limited snaps, so that's a big change.

All eyes will be on Aaron, over 600days since he played a full game with the packers.

The Falcons could win the NFC South, all the same, as 9 or 10 wins could get it done.  A knockout hope

Carolina have no chance and Tampa & the Saints are both flakey

In fact, my top 4 overall in the NFC sits at Dallas, 49ers, Eagles & the Lions

After that, it's hard to find a team that could legitimately challenge

Sorry I just quoted a post with the Abbreviation. So guys dont quote it either :)

I want Rodgers to win one more Super Bowl imo the best QB in the last 30 years. Yes, that includes Brady.

It would be great to see Rodgers turn it on and he will have at least a few big performances in him

But Champion players just can't do it all the time when they get older (Brady being the outlier) Plus, if they hit him hard it will take it's toll

His best chance, and the Jets best chance, is if he is used in a Brady-like way with protection being the main focus

Long, deep, accurate throws?  Maybe, but he's 40

  • GAMEDAY: West Coast

It's Game Day and the Demons have a chance to notch up their third consecutive win — something they haven’t done since Round 5, 2024. But to do it, they’ll need to exorcise the Demons of last year’s disastrous trip out West. Can the Dees continue their momentum, right the wrongs of that fateful clash, and take another step up the ladder on the road to redemption?

  • FEATURE: 1925

A hundred years ago today, on 2 May 1925, Melbourne kicked off the new season with a 47 point victory over St Kilda to take top place on the VFL ladder after the opening round of the new season.  Top place was a relatively unknown position for the team then known as the “Fuchsias.” They had finished last in 1923 and rose by only one place in the following year although the final home and away round heralded a promise of things to come when they surprised the eventual premiers Essendon. That victory set the stage for more improvement and it came rapidly. In this series, I will tell the story of how the 1925 season unfolded for the Melbourne Football Club and how it made the VFL finals for the first time in a decade on the way to the ultimate triumph a year later.

  • PREVIEW: West Coast

Saturday’s election night game in Perth between the West Coast Eagles and Melbourne represents 18th vs 15th which makes it a tough decision as to which party to favour. The Eagles have yet to break the ice under their new coach in Andrew McQualter who is the second understudy in a row to confront Demon Coach Simon Goodwin who was also winless until a fortnight ago. On that basis, many punters might be considering to go with the donkey vote but I’ve been assigned with the task of helping readers to come to a considered opinion on this matter of vital importance across the nation. It was almost a year ago that I wrote a preview here of the Demons’ away game against the Eagles (under the name William from Waalitj because it was Indigenous Round).  I issued a warning that it was a danger game, based on my local knowledge that the home team were no longer easybeats and that they possessed a wunderkind generational player in Harley Reid who was capable of producing stellar performances playing among men a decade and more older than he.  At the time, the Eagles already had two wins off the back of a couple of the young man’s masterclasses and they had recently given the Bombers a scare straight after their Anzac Day blockbuster draw against the then reigning premiers.

  • NON-MFC: Round 08

Round 08 of the 2025 AFL Season kicks off on Thursday with a must-win game for the Bombers to stay in touch with the top eight, while the struggling Roos seek a morale-boosting upset. Friday sees the Saints desperate for a win as well if they are to stay in finals contention and their opponents the Dockers will be eager to crack in to the Top 8 with a win on the road. Saturday kicks off with a pivotal clash for both sides asthe Bulldogs look to solidify their top-eight spot, while Port seeks to shake their pretender tag. Then the Crows will be looking to steady their topsy turvy season against a resurgent Blues looking to make it 4 wins on the trot. On Election Night a Blockbuster will see the ladder-leading Pies take on the Cats, who are keen to bounce back after a narrow loss. On Sunday the Sydney Derby promises fireworks as the Giants aim to cement their top-eight status, while the Swans fight to keep their season alive. The Hawks, celebrating their centenary, will be looking to easily account for the Tigers who are desperate to halt their slide. The Round concludes on Sunday Night with a top end of the table QClash with significant ladder implications; both Queensland teams are in scintillating form. Who are you tipping this week and what are the best results for the Demons?

  • REPORT: Richmond

The fans who turned up to the MCG for Melbourne’s Anzac Day Eve clash against Richmond would have been disappointed if they turned up to see a great spectacle. As much as this was a night for the 71,635 in attendance to commemorate heroes of the nation’s past wars, it was also a time for the Melbourne Football Club to consolidate upon its first win after a horrific start to the 2025 season. On this basis, despite the fact that it was an uninspiring and dour struggle for most of its 100 minutes, the night will be one for the fans to remember. They certainly got value out of the pre match activity honouring those who fought for their country. The MCG and the lights of the city as backdrop was made for nights such as these and, in my view, we received a more inspirational ceremony of Anzac culture than others both here and elsewhere around the country.
